Default I never knew Arkansas was beautiful!

While driving through Arkansas today, I had the good fortune to pass through Russellville. What a beautiful view! I never realized how much beauty you have in your state.

I stopped for dinner & everyone I came into contact with was very friendly.

Thank you so much for making me feel welcome while on my road trip.

Is that around exit 78 on I-40 outside of Russellville?

I haven't been on the interstate in a while and I can't remember which overlook that is.

It's actually pretty here in spots, especially in the Northwest/Northcentral Area of the state.

Well, AJ, I wish I'd known you were in my neck of the woods, I'd have told you where to get the best sweet tea and biscuits and gravy!

Russellville is at the very beginning of the Ozarks...this is Lake Dardanelle that AJ has taken a picture of. It's not the prettiest fall we've ever had - I think that was last year - but then again, the temps are in the 70's this weekend.

Glad you enjoyed your short stay, AJ - come again when you can spend more time!

The prettiest fall I can remember while I've lived here was 2005. No other year I've seen can compare. This year was ruined by the late April freeze we had Easter weekend.

The trees died pretty quickly here in Russellville this year. I think they looked good for a day or two and then just died.

I think last fall it wasn't too bad...I went to school in Russellville and lived in Clarksville and commuted, and for a couple weeks, Highway 64 was beautiful. It didn't last long, but still, not bad.

OOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhh, pretty! We were in northern Ark about a month ago visiting my sister and her husband. We had many breath taking views with the colors just changing on our way to Bella Vista. We were always there earlier so never got to see that. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, that's exactly where I took that picture. I found this overlook completely by accident. I missed the previous exit (wanted to eat dinner at Cracker Barrel, but now wish I could've had "the best biscuits & sweet tea") . The sight literally took my breath away. I just had to jump out of the car & take those pictures.

I'll be sure to come back & visit. By the way, everyone I came across in Arkansas was wonderfully friendly.

Many years ago I had a job with Arkla Gas. My job was to drive all over the Western part of the state making sure the dehydration units were in working order. If the job would have paid more, it would have been the most perfect job in the world. I drove all over the countryside and it was beautiful. Arkansas is a beautiful state.

I moved here from Nebraska four years ago, and while driving to college one afternoon I had to stop and check my car (funky noise..). I stopped on that overlook, and didn't even know what was there until I turned around. The most I had seen in terms of mountains in the past few years were the sandhills in North Platte. It was beautiful, that overlook, and I had to sit and just take it in for a minute. I think that was the year that the leaves actually changed here.

Oh, you are making me sooooooo homesick. I was raised in Arkansas most of my life and have not lived there for 22 years. (since I have been married) Family is still there so I am able to go back and visit at least, twice a year.
Thanks for taking those pictures. They are beautiful.
