Thumbs up Abc Approves Liquor License For Russellville Seafood Joint

THE LICENSE FOR Mickie's Bluefish Grill has been aprove, I for one think this is a really good thing for russellville, i know theres a fight going on, with the wet/dry debate.. but i think its a good thing. I for one think they should take the wet/dry vote too the polls one more time, i think things might turn out diff, i like the mayors ideal of one store too sell beer in russellville, ran by the city. it would keep alot of money in this town, and i think it would cause alot less drunk driving cause people wont be driving all the way too blackwell no longer. thats my two cents..... please tell me what you think on the new seafood place. and the wet/dry. and be nice no fighting

I was so happy to see this since I felt like the sheriff just absolutely did an about face on this guy. Yes - get wet/dry to the polls...although I'll miss seeing our friends at Blackwell, I feel like time stood still a while back on the wet/dry issue. If it fails, it fails - but I don't think it will this time, and I think most people in the county think a law would pass if put to the vote - and that's probably why it never makes it to the polls. Russellville is Russellville - some things don't change.

I don't want the city or state or feds running ANYTHING else - they can't manage what they've got now...otherwise we wouldn't have had a number of public works people get caught in a trick bag lately. Nope...I just think it's a lousy idea for the government to be in charge of something on the front end they have to control on the back end, like public intox, DWI, etc. I don't think we have enough police officers now, maybe the funds could be used for that.

Anybody heard what Tyrone has to say about all of this, or does he have a position at all? EDIT, EDIT...wait, that's TYRONE'S idea about the city running a beer place? Okay...well, never mind...that sorta says it all. Sheesh.

thats what i heard, was that he wanna it too be like a city run type of thing, so all money goes russellville.. and no cold beer everything hot so people would be less likely too drink on the way home. now i did not see this come from his mouth, and i heard it for a few people here and there. so i could just be blowing smoke

I like Tyrone - I really do, I voted for him - but sometimes I just wonder if he's cut out to be a politician! So he wants the city to have the tax money and the mark up? Well, on anything else I'd say okay...but I just think that's a bad idea all the way around on a lot of levels. Lord, Tyrone and Jay Winters will tie up in no time...I was surprised that the police chief came out for it, but it may be that he just wants to be for whatever Winters is against. Seems to be some rivalry there.

There are a lot of dry counties in Arkansas...but I haven't heard as much about the wet/dry vote from other counties as much as it's been in the paper and on the news here lately. Anyone else got anything to say about voting in a wet law in a currently dry county?

Marion county went wet recently. I don't remember the exact count but it was pretty darn close. Boone is also rumbling about it but I think that's going to be about as tough as Pope. I doubt they'll get it back on the ballot anytime soon. I really do think Benton will go next year!

They need to just let us be wet so some better restaurants can actually come here.

Better food = more people = better economy

It's not like people don't drink here just because of the dry county thing. To think that it makes any difference is just silly.

There have been quite a few chains and things that have wanted to come in but wouldn't because of the blue law...or dry or whatever you want to call it. Kind of crazy - there are 8 establishments with private liquor licenses, so it's not like you can't drink in Pope or Yell counties. $5 for a one year membership isn't much of a big deal. I don't know why the dry folks hold onto this as the last stronghold, but it surely is serious stuff around here...but no one seems to be apathetic on it, you either think it's a great idea or a lousy one. Guess the churches have a lot of impact...it's a church-ing kind of town.
