the Alberto Plant is only about 5-10 minutes from Post, it wont open probably for another 3-6 months, its still being built. There are quite a few communications companies here that I see ads for jobs. E. Ritter Communications is one, and there are several others..here is the link to the local paper.

I don't know that the lack of neighborhoods without community pools being explained off as it being a low income area is fair. There are lots of backyard pools so it is probably more of a personal preference.

I would think ASU would have several computer jobs. This gives you state employee benefits...that might be good.

in reference to the pools..alot of people would rather go swimming in a creek, a river, or go to the lake (Lake Norfork, Greers Ferry) than go to community pools. I dont speak for everyone of course, but thats one reason there isnt a big push for more pools and not because this is a low income area.

Default jobs

Interesting, thanks for the tip on the Alberto plant...I assume the IT job I saw online was for the Alberto plant, it said it would be supporting a plant. I did look at ASU because I have a college support background, but no IT jobs.

I like lakes, ponds, creeks, too but there is something to being able to walk from your house to a pool in 110 degree/100% humidity weather

hi betseydt77,

I currently work at the Jonesboro Post facility and wish you guys all the best with your move to Arkansas.

As for liquor sales, this "dry" county is not very dry at all. We currently have 20 liquor permits within Craighead county with establishments including: Ole Charlie's, Outback, Fuji's Steakhouse, 501 Club, Sheffields, Ruby Tuesdays(pending), etc.
These clubs have a private membership that require a $5 annual membership fee. I live within the Jonesboro city limits and it takes me 8 minutes to get to the closest liquor store. Memphis is a 45min to 1 hr drive from Jonesboro and you will find everything a big city has to offer there, along with gambling in Tunica that is only 20 miles south of Memphis.

I read where you are possibly interested in the Sage Meadows area. Personally I feel this is the best subdivision in the area to live in. The housing costs in this area ranges from $175,000-$250,000 for homes with 2000-3000 sf. This area is approximately 2 miles north of hwy 49, but is still within Jonesboro city limits. It lies on the outskirts of town, but is on a very nice golf course and they also serve alcohol in the clubhouse.

I hope this information helps you along with everyone else who has posted. If you have any more detailed questions please feel free to ask and I will do my best to help out.

Good luck with the move!
