Hello we just got a call for a job relocation. The job is near the Airport in Little Rock. I am trying to find info on APTs and mainly the area. I don't know where to begin to search. We are two adults with a dog and cat looking for a nice area. We don't want to get to the bad side of town. We moving from Frederick MD. Any info would be helpfull. We might be moving in about 2 weeks. Gosh no time to pack!! Thank You again.

Little Rock vs. Larger cities...........This is an active post that someone recently started. There is a reply in that post that gives some boundaries of where to live or not live in LR. You might find that helpful. Also use the search option and you may find info where LR apartments have been discussed in the past.

You don't want to live near the airport, that's for sure...close to NOTHING.

Agreed!
Generally, Hillcrest (east border is around where Kavanaugh meets Markham, south border is Markham or a bit north of it, west border around Van buren, maybe a little further, but not quite to university, north border is cantrell) or the heights (similar area, but the part north of cantrell; goes a bit further west too) if you want something close to everything and have a higher budget or are looking for something pretty small. Cammack Village (kinda northwest of the heights) is pretty nice, too, and a little less expensive. The homes west of university and north of Markham look nice, but I honestly don't know about crime in that area. West little rock has some areas of super-ritzy stuff and very affordable stuff too; it's kinda like it's own little sub-city with it's own seperate subdivision that I don't know So maybe someone with more WLR knowlege can recommend something out there. |

maricha, look at this thread...this may help you get an idea of where to look. Apt. with dog and cat could be tough...I'd be looking for a pet friendly landlord...

if no kids/school involved, think about Otter Creek out SW Little Rock, I used to live there and it's pretty nice. Closest livable area that I know. West Little Rock is really the best if you want shopping, restaurants, etc. too

OP, the other place you might look is down off Rebsamen Park Road off Cantrell...there are any number of apartments there. Depending on the time of day you will be going toward the airport, the traffic could get kind of icky since you have all that downtown traffic to contend with at peak hours. I'd also suggest looking in the McCain/Lakewood area of North Little Rock...again, traffic, but anytime you have to travel I-30/I-430/I-630 at peak hours it will be a heavy traffic flow. Of course, our idea of heavy and yours may differ considerably. I'm not familiar with many areas north of that, maybe someone else can help you. If you can swing it financially, I'd try staying at a hotel until you can get your bearings. There are a number that are pet friendly that may give you a break on a one or two week rental until you can check things out for yourself. There is absolutely nothing close to the airport in the way of apartments that I could recommend. There IS a Holiday Inn Express on Airport Drive and I know they accept pets...or they used to, might want to look at the website again.
