Actually, parts of CA is not that diverse. Diversity means that all cultures live together and enjoy each other's culture and of course in parts of CA that is not happening. Moderator cut: attack

I don't think the deal with Acambaro's has worked itself out, yet. The restaurants were all closed yesterday, and I believe they are still closed today. They were employing illegals (I guess even the owner's son and daughter-in-law were illegal) and they were raided and shut down. The owner is legal, he has several restaurants, and I'm sure he is gathering his resources for the upcoming legal battles. The feds want to seize several of his assets because they are ill-gotten gains earned from his knowing assistance to illegals. So we'll have to see how it all works out.

I loved Fayetteville and have often thought of it as a possible retirement destination, although it probably no longer resembles the place I visited 30 years ago. One of his friends had built a tiny cabin on a creek that fed into the Buffalo River, and lived during the week in this unknown town called Branson, MO...that's how long ago this was!
Several things you should know about Californians: There are over 38 millions of us, and believe it or not, we're NOT all the SAME! For example, I live in a college town in the Central Valley, which is mostly farmland - orchards, alfalfa, and rice. The college-employed folks in my town tend to be crunchy granola Birkenstock-wearing types who drive hybrid cars, but the farmers right outside of town drive huge pickup trucks and buy their Red Wing shoes at the hardware store. No one up here is into tanning or plastic surgery, and a lot of us hate southern California. We'd seriously like to be a separate state. We have huge cattle ranches in this state, gigantic poultry producing companies, and of course, the colorful residents of San Francisco, who live side by side with stuffy investment bankers and venture capitalists. The computer you're looking at right now is likely running on a chip designed by a Silicon Valley team of nerdy engineers.
Please, stop with the stereotypes. California is not what you see on your TV shows. I have visited Arkansas several times, and I love its beauty and its people. Would you like it if I stated that people in Arkansas are ignorant, uneducated fools like the ONE person I met there who honestly did not know there was a state named Maryland and thought that Ponce de Leon had actually FOUND the Fountain of Youth in Florida, and wanted to visit it someday? Of course not! So please have the same courtesy and don't assume you know what my "California ways" are. I might surprise you.

you know what? some of us were raised in Calif, have family there and do know a lot about the state. This isn't meant to blast Calif or people who choose to live there, but the illegal problems have created a nightmare, no matter where in the state you live, plus the liberal views don't help. For many it is the perfect state and yet people are leaving at a faster rate than moving in (with the exception of illegals) For many of us born and raised there the changes are sad. Add to the problems listed, the cost of living, congested roads everywhere, crowded shopping centers, etc. many people are looking for a quieter, saner life for themselves and their families.

Living in a scenic resort type area with the 7 lakes and outdoor amenities such as golf and fishing, yet still being just a few minutes away from the medical facilities in Bentonville / Rogers or veterans hospital in Fayetteville is why Bella Vista is attractive to many retirees.

Dont think of us as Californians think of us as refugees from Northern Mexico and welcome us as fellow Americans into your state. Help us adjust to our new way of life, teach us to drive slower and remind us not to say "dude" and "like" every other word. I for one cant wait until the rat race is over and I can slow down and raise my son in a safe, pleasant town far far away from Cantaffordya.

Just for the record to those who have read my previous posts, I just went back home to southcentral Mississippi to visit my relatives. After the trip down there..... (including the various stops in the sticks and the Delta for gas and food).....
...California people are just fine. Nothing like a trip back "home" to let you realize how good things are where you're at. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that stupid and stuck up people come in all forms. And, like I've said before, if I were paying the outrageous prices for things that people in Cali are right now, I'd sell my place and home down here too.
