[quote=Cali BassMan;2202544]Californian's are concidered Yankee? Geography wise it's further south that Arkansas, of course it's also as far north as Illinois,
History does have it as being part of the Union during the Civil War..
You would probally find more people from Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma in California than most other states ( not a fact just an observation)
What you do want to protect is your way of life, I envy Arkansas and Missouri for the beautiful countryside, fine people and an outdoor way of life they have. I would love to retire and move back there, the last thing I would want is to bring California ways with me.. I want to become one of you, not have you become one of me...[/quote

I relocated here(Bella Vista) from Wisconsin. I was chatting with a local farmer and he asked me if I knew the difference between a yankee and a damm yankee.

I, of course, had no idea. He educated me , stating that a yankee...visited and went home...a damm yankee stayed !!

I'm from the Dallas forum... and we Texans were thinking that ALL the Californians were moving to Texas... as we are constantly bombarded daily from them requesting info about our area! However, I see from this forum, and many others as well, that there just seems to be a general exodus of droves of Californians moving out... to any/everywhere!

Very sad, I think... especially for the natives. But, in time, I would think this might well improve their home state in getting the housing costs back into reason as well as other economical/political issues that seem to have gotten way out-of-hand!

Good luck to all of you!

I just visited Bella Vista. I can see why Californians are moving out to NW Arkansas. My brother just moved to Bella Vista from San Diego. The Crystal Bridges Museum is going to be the finest museum in America. Best Wishes!

NMNita and others. I moved to New Mexico 4 years ago, and was told then it was because of all us Californians moving to New Mexico is why there was such a huge water shortage. Now I moved back to Cali and New Mexico is coming out of its drought! Go figure!
Californians are moving out of Cali, because of the influx of immigrates moving here ( i have always said make those on welfare go out and work in the fields, like the Mexicans do we will not have the welfare problem that we have here ), lack of jobs, higher taxes and higher cost of living. The crime rate in any county in Calif is very high. The schools here are getting worse every year. We really have a wonderful governator, but cant get those in the State Capitol to work together. All in all California SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! Which is why I am moving to northeast Arkansas this summer. My daughter and her family lives there and I visited there this past summer. I really liked it there. LOVED the people and the way of life there. I cant wait to get there...
Smiles and God Bless,

Karen

I am also a a California living for all the same reasons
crime, poor performing schools, cost of living, Calif. politics, yadayadayada

Our home is priced right but we have not even had a phone call in the week that it has been listed. The drastic reducation in new home sales by builders trying to dump the many overbuilt homes and the bank repos are hard to compete with in todays market. I pray everyday that we will BE ABLE to get out of here.
