Ive been reading the forums about people relocating to Bentonville. A lot of useful information indeed. Most threads I have seen though are about families moving into town. I happen to be a 22 year old male who has just graduated from college in MIAMI. Could anyone possible recommend some safe area's that are REASONABLE in price? I am mainly looking for an apartment for the first year while I adjust to the city life of Bentonville. I am single and have NO children. I will be working for Walmart in the David Glass Technology Center. Thanks in advance!

I'd tend to recommend living in Fayetteville and commuting. The commute would not be terrible. The traffic in NWA will be a joke compared to Miami. I used to commute from Farmington on the SW side of Fayetteville to downtown Rogers and it usually took me 35 to 45 minutes. Bear in mind I drive like a bat outta he!! though! Fayetteville is much younger with the university right there so that would definitely help you with the adjustment.

Fayetteville is a college town and it is where the nightlife in NWA is focused. I would highly recommend living there and commuting. Bentonville itself is in a dry county.

The commute to Bentonville is not that bad at all. I can get from Springdale to the Bentonville in about 20 minutes on a good day.
Fayetteville will be the area for you. Try Dickson Street. ![]() compared to Miami, the houses will be a steal. I'm not sure if this is approrpriate to post, but you can look at Moderator cut: nope, sorry, can't do anything that looks like advertising - just do a yellow page on property management in the area you are interested in Depending on how nice, you can technically find apartments for $375 (I wouldn't live there though). Considering you will be spending more time working, than 'nightlife', I would suggest bentonville and heading to f'ville for your weekend entertainment. Better to commute 2 days/week than 5!!
If you want to PM me, I've been at DGTC for a little over a year now and can help if needed. |

So...we're advocating drinking and driving now?
The Sheriff Depts there are predatory, not something I'd like to risk on a weekly basis!! But hey, to each their own! |

Since you're fresh out of college, you'll be keenly aware of this thing called global warming and want to cut out any unnecessary burning of fossil fuels. Heed the above person who advised living close to work and making the commute for entertainment. Or maybe you even came through college smart enough to realize that getting blitzed at a bar every week isn't the most constructive thing one can do with their life.
Proselytizing aside, there really isn't a "bad" part of Bentonville. Some years ago there was a building moratorium and people were forced to demolish or upgrade the slummy neighborhoods to move here. The town is nearly crime-free, and people can and do walk and jog at night without fear. There is free Wi-Fi on the town square (about 2.5 miles from the DGTC), and people tend to hang out there when the weather is nicer. The DGTC happens to lie in between two large apartment complexes that are within walking distance of work, on a sidewalk that is part of the city trail system that flows all the way to the north end of town to the new mountain biking trails. I think you're going to find that even an efficiency apartment is going to go for something like $450 a month or more. With the current glut of unsold new homes in town, many of the beleaguered builders are now leasing brand new homes (though there is a threat of foreclosure looming over them). Best of luck to you working for the Evil Empire. |

I think Bentonville is a great area for both young and old. I live in bentonville and I'm 24 and have a family, but I know a lot of single people who work also at Wal-Mart and love bentonville. But you were wanting to know about apartments, well pretty much the only place that rules the apartment communities in our area are Lindsey Apartments, you can google it and there are tons of apartments all throughout Bentonville. There are a lot of duplexes and homes for rent as well for not that much more, but they are harder to find, I'd suggest picking up a local newspaper the Democrat Gazette is one of the best around here. Good luck!
