Hi all,
It looks like we'll be transferring to the Fayetteville area but can actually live up to an hour in any direction around it. Can anyone recommend a nice community with great schools and lots of sports activities that has a population around 10,000 people? We love that small town feel that has shopping conveniences. Any info you could give us would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

There are numerous small towns (West Fork, Farmington, Prairie Grove, etc) in the area that would have a small town feel. Personally, I wouldn't rule out living in Fayetteville proper. It's a small city, but the shopping is quite good, there are many restaurants, the University and Walton Arts Center provide some cultural venues, the school system is very good, and there are many very nice neighborhoods. Of course, if you are looking for some acreage, you will probably want to explore the surrounding area.

I'd probably recommend Praire Grove. It has a nice cohesive small town atmosphere and it's very easily commutable. West Fork might work but to me it isn't as homey a town since it was built on major highway. Elkins is also a quiantish town but it's not as well kept as PG. Farmington, while we lived there and we'd probably move back given the chance, lacks much of a small town feel.

There are many neat places in and around Fayetteville. As a retired teacher I appreciate your need for good schools. I also was a head football coach in Wisconsin for 32 years. NWA has the rep for having the best schools in Arkansas. If you wish, give me a pm. art |

I love West Fork. Good schools, nice parks, easy commute on the 540 to anywhere.
