Hardy isn't bad, I remember getting breakfast there once on the way to Jonesboro and there was a really good breakfast place on the main little strip there somewhere. Harrison and Mtn. Home really aren't that pretty town wise, but the area around Mtn. Home with the lakes and rivers is really nice. Something the kids might enjoy is the Peel ferry, the last functioning ferry boat in the state. It's on highway 125 between Peel and something in MO (middle of nowhere really) but it's kinda cool to drive your car onto a boat and have it take you across Bull Shoals lake- not many places you can experience that anymore.

In Missouri- The Old Dawt Mill is a cool little area too and a fun look at what things used to be like. And of course Branson is super touristy, but there's a lot of fun stuff there and the area is very pretty. Old downtown is kind of cool if you happen to be in Branson, but not worth a special trip like Eureka Springs is, IMO.
The breakfast place in Hardy is "The Corner Booth". My wife and I love it!! Just be sure to bring cash; no checks or credit cards; but the price is cheap and the food great!!!

Ayup.

Then, after breakfast, go to the candy store, grab some sweets, some gourmet coffee, and walk down to the gazebo to sit and watch the tourists.

We do that too!! Plus thank goodness the public bathrooms are still open at the gazebo! (Important when you reach my age!)
