June visit to Bella Vista need suggestions
Hi there.
My parents live in Bella Vista (not retired! ) and I'm planning on bring the family down for a week or so this summer. Usually we come in the fall or winter for a few days, and hang out. But this time, DH is requesting an itinerary (snort!) and so I'm wondering if you can give me some summer suggestions for things to do.
We generally stay in Bentonville/Rogers. DH loves to golf. We also were wondering what kind of rentals are available on Beaver Lake? Have two boys, 7 and 10. Would love to hear some ideas!

I'm not certain about Beaver, but try Vacation Rentals in Bella Vista....they probably will have lake homes available in Bella Vista...good luck.

Eureka Springs is always a great day. You should try to catch a Naturals game! A float trip on the Buffalo would be a good day trip too. In June I would recommend the middle or lower river which will be a bit further drive but still worthwhile, IMO. After a long day in the warm Ozark sun, take the kids to the Jones Center the following day to cool off with a brisk skate around the free ice rink!

Well, golf shouldn't be any problem in Bella Vista. You might also want to take in a minor-league baseball game in Springdale. The Arkansas Naturals will be playing at home several times in June. Have you ever visited Devil's Den? Just south of Fayetteville, it has caves and hiking trails and swimming and picnic areas. It might be fun for your boys. Also, Silver Dollar City or Whitewater, both near Branson, are great for an all-day excursion.

Thanks very much for the quick responses. This is just the kind of info I'm looking for.
I guess when I said rentals I was thinking wondering about pontoons, etc. on Beaver Lake. Are there any outfits that do that?
In what city is the Jones Center?
What is there for kids in Eureka Springs? I think we went once, but I recall it as more for the adults.
Is Devil's Den near that artist community outside of Fayetteville? Just wondering.
Thanks again for sharing your ideas.

Jones Center is in Springdale: Ice Arena - The Jones Center for families
Getting tickets reserves spaces for you during the skate times but they are free.
There are some attractions for the kiddies in Eureka that are out of the downtown area. Here are a few that might interest them:
Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge
Cosmic cavern, cave and caves - Eureka Spring, Arkansas
When they get tired of your shopping and browsing downtown you can take them on a good long trolley ride though the historic loop. I know my son loved that when he was that age (still does actually). Then if you hang around into the evening there's this:
Ghost Tours at the 1886 Crescent Hotel&Spa
I'm guessing the artist's community you're talking about is one in Durham? I can't remember the name of it now. You can get to Devil's Den by taking 540 south to West Fork. There are signs directing you from there. I will concur it's a good afternoon or possibly full day excursion.

I forgot about the Jones Center and ice skating. That would be fun!
There are several marinas on the lake that rent boats, I'd guess the easiest to get to is the one at Prairie Creek.
There is also a really nice swimming pool complex in Springdale, and a good one in Bentonville. Rogers has Lake Atalanta. Of course, there are a couple of pools in Bella Vista. I know someone else suggested it, but floating the Buffalo or the Mulberry Rivers is really a great idea.
In Eureka there is also a place, I want to say it's called Fun City, but I won't swear by that, that has video games and go-carts and stuff like that. I think also the golf course in Berryville right by Eureka Springs is public.

Hi again!
Just thought I'd let you all know our trip has been moved to August and dh can't come along : (
However, I saw the Ozark Demolition Derby will take place while we're visiting - that's OK to bring an 8- and 10- year old boys to, right?
