That is an Eastern kingbird, and you are correct, Slim, it is a type of flycatcher.

I'm surprised we are having such a beautiful fall. With this past horrifically hot summer I figured the leaves would just go from green to brown.

PS - When posting pics, I think we should limit the size of them to something reasonable (keep them relative small), and include them as attachments (which generates a series of thumbnail images as you see here - see "manage attachments" when creating your posts), rather than including them inline using the IMG tag.
Good thought but, unfortunately, I don't enjoy the thumbnail pictures and skip over them.....sorry.

December 26th 2012. O.K. I know many of us in AR saw this Wednesday morning, so this is for those poor people in the southwest who did not have the "pleasure" of crawling out of bed from under six quilts into a 40 degree room and looking out the window and seeing this. Even as miserable as we were, we were much better off than those in the northeast. I don't know if I could handle more than two days and three nights and those people have had weeks of it.

I doubt any of y'all have seen this. It is out in the boonies of east Pike County. Since this photo was taken the rails have been taken up but they left the bridges and trestles and hopefully one day this will become one of the "rails-to-trails" hiking trail. It is fantastic remote country.
