There seems to be a huge inventory of homes for sale in Mountain Home. Is there any particular reason for this?

Just for comparison, I live in a town in NE TX that is just barely larger than Mountain Home and we have almost no homes for sale. It is a seller's market. Mountain Home must have a hundred homes in the 200k or less range for sale.

Well, according to the 2014 population estimate, the city seems to have lost some of its population in the last 4 years. This could simply be a result of the nationwide trend of people moving from rural to urban areas. Just a hypothesis, I'm not from there.

Hello, I moved here a year and three months ago. I will be happy to tell you why.

A) most of the people who made this place hop back in the 1990's are either deceased now or have gone back to live with the kids up north.

This accounts for about 80% of the empty homes here.

The other, B) there is NO jobs or future here unless one works at Wallmart or in anyone of the miserable factories that dot the map here. People, like my hubby and I, who came here with the best of intentions are now getting ready to flee back to somewhere, anywhere else but this area.

If you would like to snap up some property, contact me. I am done here.

Doing some research on Mountain Home several months ago, I was under the impression it was mostly for people either retired or getting ready to retire. Water sports, golfing and fishing is what I see.

To move there and try to get a job wouldn't make sense......but that is the impression I get.
