We have looked at retiring to HS area. We like many places but also like the demographics and security of HSV. But we also like the idea of owning a few acres outside of the village. Any pros and cons?

less biting bugs in HSV.
I am only kidding. For us, living within the village would be our choice. I know, when we moved to NWA we liked the idea of the safety and planned community. Living somewhat in the country sounds great and has a lot to offer, but the years, from the time you retire til you are past the stage of wanting to be far away from civiliazation goes by faster than most of us realize. You can live in the village and still not have neighbors right on top of you. At least this is true in Bella Vista, which is similar to HSV>

Well HSV has some things I like bike trails, access to beaches, walking trails ect. Gated even though its not as secure as some places its still better than nothing. I don't like the dues but someone has to pay the gate keeper. I do like the acreage on non HSV property. Personally I also like HSV deed restrictions. It keeps people from doing stupid things that devalue property values.

Other than HSV, we are also going to be checking into Bella Vista. Both sound like the kind of areas we're looking for.

Of course I am partial, but I would definately check into Bella Vista before making a decision. They are similar and yet different. We did check into both. We felt BV offered even more than HSV,the POA fees are lower and we seem to have better access to things like medical facilities and entertainment. This is just a personal opinion of course.

No, I mean lower than the $37.00;ours are $24 a month. There has been a push to raise them to $36 but it never passes. One of these days it will, I am sure.
