I have searched and searched and cannot find this information. I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not landlords were required to supply deadbolts on rental properties in Arkansas? Thanks.

You could ask the landlord to install a deadbolt but I would guess it would be at your expense.
I doubt there is a specific law that states all rental unit must have a dead bolt lock provided by the landlord.

What CSD said. Also, read your lease. It may say that no lock alterations/additions can be done without permission of the landlord and if permission is given, you may have to provide a key to the landlord. The only statute I could find in the Arkansas legal code that pertains to locks says: Upon request, the landlord must change or re-key the locks at the tenant’s expense. (A.C.A. § 18-16-112(b))

Thanks, you two.

I know in some states, rental properties are required to have a keyless lock in addition to the bolt (not necessarily a deadbolt), so most apartments just put on one of those crappy circle and chain things. I'm actually okay with taking care of the cost myself, I just wasn't sure if they would even do that.

You're welcome and it certainly couldn't hurt to ask.
