Default Possibly relocating to Bentonville for a job

Hello Everyone -

I am currently interviewing with a large consumer packaged goods company that has a sales office in Bentonville, AR. Having been born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio I am a little skeptical about making such a HUGE switch. I am really conflicted over this issue especially seeing as I am a minority, a female, and know absolutely no one in Bentonville. I am hoping some people can respond to me to tell me about night life, community groups to join, places to live, and just give me general feedback about Bentonville. PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi,

Did you get any replies to this. I am currently interviewing for a job also and i am a single mother of one, minority and sorta nervous about the relocation. I haven't been offered the job, but flying in this week for face to face interview. I am interested in what others have to say about moving to the area.

I don't ever recall seeing this post and I'm really surprised you didn't get any feedback from our NWA backers here!!!

I've got a great opportunity for some athletic activity in that area if you'd be willing to try something totally new!

As far as being a minority and a single mother-there should be no problem here. The cost of living in this area is below the national average. As a single parent myself I consider that one of the great things about NWA. There are'nt many places (that I know of) where a single mother could live this comfortably. There are tons of affordable houses and apartments for rent . If you are intrested in buying a home here( now or later) that won't be a problem either. From what I understand the Public schools in Bentonville are great. I live in Fayetteville myself so I don't have many details on Bentonville schools, but like I say- I hear positive things. We don't really have a raging nightlife here.Dickson St. In Fayetteville is proably the closet thing. As far as community groups-you should be able to find some to fit you intrests.

If you have anymore specific questions just ask and I'll try to help you out.

Thanks for the reply. I will be coming in tomorrow and a realtor will take me around to a few of the comomunities so I can get a feel for the area.

Default Offered the job in Bentonville

I have accepted the job and moving to Bentonville over the next few weeks. It is going to be a change from DC Metro area to such a small town. I am getting really excited though as these posts have been really helpful in reducing my anxiety level. I will be going down there next weekend to look for a place to live and really excited about what I can expect to pay in renting a home as a single parent versus what you have to pay in my current location.

good for you, we lived 7 years in Alexandria back in the 70s: we loved DC but wouldn't go back if they gave us a house, a new car and free food for a year: well, I lie, for that we probably would.

Good luck, I can imagine how happy you will be with the prices on rentals.

Nita
