Default Pharmaceutical Jobs in Arkansas???

Can someone tell me about the opportunity for pharmaceutical/medial sales jobs in the western areas of Arkansas? We are currently living in Oklahoma City but looking to relocate to a nice area around Fort Smith, Fayetteville or Springdale? After sending out many resumes to the area on career sites, I am beginning to wonder if there is a need for these type jobs in the area? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

A need? Definitely Yes. Fort Smith is adding more and more pharmacies and medical offices all over the eastern side of the city. Bentonville, Rogers area is the home of a retirement playground (the actual retirement community is Bela Vista). And where there is the elderly, there is a need for medications. If you are looking for pharmaceutical jobs in the NW part of Arkansas, then you might need to look for the heaviest concentration of elderly and the insured. The two areas I mentioned above fill both of those qualifications. One thing that you might want to keep in mind, is that this part of the state relies heavily on small get-to-know-you type pharmacies, so you should look at the local newspapers websites and even get actual copies of the paper to search for these types of jobs. Chances are you will be working for a private small business but the pay is usually competitively the same for this part of the south.

My sister did pharmaceuticals and hospital/OR equipment sales for a number of years with one of the larger corporations - she went through a headhunter and was able to make a much better package deal than she could have independently, and ended up being in high demand. Many of the pharmaceutical reps are part-timers now - the companies will pay two people part time wages rather than one full time so they don't have to provide the benefits (yes, corporate America is alive and well and living in Arkansas). Have you tried looking on monsterjob.com? I would think finding a reputable headhunter would be your fastest and most lucrative way of getting in and making good money.

I knew someone living in Fort Smith who was a pharmaceutical rep. She traveled a bit, to cover her territory, but really enjoyed it.
