This is important to many I am sure and you, obviously did not realize her other post stressed a good place for retirement. If you had seen that as well, you would have understood our responses to her. Vegan dining is not number one in her life. I know there are some who this is their number one concern and of course there are cities where there are more vegans. The problem with vegan life style and small towns, there are not all that many and the OP is looking for a place to retire in a small town.

This should be of help -

Vegetarian Restaurants Arkansas - Healthy Food Stores by HappyCow

There are many vegans, and vegetarians in Little Rock and some near the university.

Happy Cow is a great start!

The thread title: Vegan Lifestyle

from the original poster:

"the most important factor in my life is being vegan and finding others who are also. I have to eat this way for health reasons, as well as it being a personal choice".

The following statement says something different: "Vegan dining is not number one in her life".

Perhaps there have been other threads that spoke to what was important and what was not important, I am not offering comments on the content of another thread, only what has been discussed here. From the limited original statement above, one could reasonably read what was most important in the life of the original poster. I am in no position to offer comments about the sincerity or accuracy of the above statement, only to offer comments regarding said statement. The second sentence states there is a need for a vegan diet for health reasons....and staying healthy should rank high on anyone's list of priorities.

These are what I have based my posts on, nothing else. I mentioned that given the limited growing season in NWA, fresh/wholesome fruits/veggies available at farmers markets in the off season would be limited, thus making vegan selections more difficult. Having lived in North AR, albeit, long ago, I can attest to the growing season, and at that time in AR, if you wanted fresh/wholesome and reasonably priced fruits/veggies, you grew them yourself.

But here, on a rare occasion, we can agree Nita; "there are cities where there are more vegans. The problem with vegan life style and small towns, there are not all that many" ....thank you for underscoring my entire point.

Vegan Friendly Cities

For instance Santa Cruz (I have lived close by) is listed, close to a metro area, coastal living, access to the Salinas Valley a major agricultural area, Portland is mentioned (not mentioned, and my favorite, Eugene) located within the amazingly fruitful Willamette Valley. I have also lived close to Eugene, and in all my travels have never encountered a finer Farmers Market.

Lane County Farmers Market (Eugene).

When I post, my intent is to assume nothing, post information not opinion, and to spark further discussion... sometimes my opinion does sneak out.

To the OP, good luck on your search for the ultimate destination.

Regards
Gemstone1

Veganism is both the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals.[9] A follower of veganism is known as a vegan.

We have a local farmers market every Tuesday and Thursday at Pine Mountain Village from 7AM-2PM I believe.

It runs from April-Nov.

Definitely check out Eureka Springs, it sounds like a great fit for you.
