Mountain Home
Mountain Home is a wonderful place for either the retirees, vacationers or calling it home to all ages. With 2 beautiful lakes and the White River, Baxter Regional Medical Center and more businesses coming to the area. We have a Super Walmart, Lowe's and Home Depot. They have just broke ground for a Staples. The schools are safe and the curriculum is good. Coming from California, all the school my boys were in were very highly rated. We are completely satisfied with all the schools here. Having 4 boys, aged 7-15, we've seen all the schools since we've been here. Please let me know if you need anything answered. Mike Rose

thanks Mike
Very encouraging reply. As I am a retired teacher your comment about the schools was great to hear. CA sucks now. I have received some good stuff from Ed Gilbert Realty.
Silly question. I dearly love fried catfish. Any good spots?
Thanks again

It's been about a year ago. I was receiving catalogs from someone. It could have been Ed G. but I'm not sure.
My status as a "mover" is still up in the air as I am still trying to convince the better half.
I'll sign my name so you can check. Please don't use it on this format.

Car Club
Contact Dennis Gessler at Mountain Home Auto Museum 870-404-2930. He says we have 6 car clubs and he belongs to 3 of them. He can get you in touch with any of them. I hope this helps.

Life in Mountain Home, AR
I was simply not prepared for how conservative, repressed, totally boring and lacking in any decent restaurants, cultural events, etc Mountain Home is. I am from Northern CA and actually very offended by the obtrusive religious stuff here, like asking what church you go to as the first words out of their mouth. It is truly beautiful I have travelled alot but unless you are very tired and want a long, boring rest don't do it. Most of the people I have talked to who moved here did so because of low house prices but the environment doesn't compensate in my opionion. My husband and I plan to move next year and though we have met many nice people here if you are not a church goer, politically conservative, a gossip, and like bad food don't do it. It may get better in the future but I think the church folks will win out they are very threatened by any thing different, like you will not see people of any other culture, no ethnic restaurants, etc. If you are in your 50's and healthy don't do it, I wish I had known more! And yes there are tornados here and it is ghastly humid in the summer. Sorry to be so negative but I have heard this from many people in my age range 50's. The locals who are 30 look 70 it's because of the terrible poverty that exists in Arkansas.
