It is fun watching the lines of Arkansans getting stocked up. And fueling up at the gas pumps, too!

Copelands should have. I don't think Brioso ever did. A lot of places say there's a $5 charge, but then it never gets on the bill. What's funny is if someone does ask you for a membership card, and then everyone at the table starts going through their wallets pulling out this membership and that one, because surely someone has a membership to this place!

I live in a dry county, but it's next to a wet county so it's not a problem. I maintain a wine cellar. I do think the dry counties definitely impact the local music scene. There isn't much of one in my county except for outdoor concerts, but that music is limited to gospel, country and bluegrass, which probably explains why the county is dry. : (

Nothing wrong with that. If you don't want to drink, you don't have to. But imposing it upon everyone in the community is kind of oppressive IMO. I can see the rationale though... it doesn't bother me that much, but generally speaking I don't like the notion of the state treating people like children and telling them they aren't capable of exercising their own self control and personal responsibility just because of a few bad apples.

However, I don't feel strongly enough about it to actually change the status quo. I don't know if that makes me a hypocrite. But in a perfect world, I would not want the local government policing legal human behavior.

and you don't think those who really want to get booze won't get it whether county is dry or wet? This is like saying, if guns are illegal no one will ever get shot again.

My feeling is, dry counties or cities just loose sales tax, they don't accomplish much else.
