Default Rental Property in or near Alexander, AR

I am considering accepting a position located in Alexander, AR. I do not want to live in Little Rock because I hate driving (especially in heavy traffic), so I have been looking at homes/apartments in and around Alexander. However, I seem to be finding only homes for sale instead of rental property which is what I'm more interested in at this time. I have found a few apartments in the Bryant area, but I would rather live in Alexander and would really prefer a house vs. an apartment. Does anyone have any contact info for real estate agents that have listings for rental properties, or happen to know of any places for rent in the area? Any help would be appreciated.

No realtor recommendations can be made on City Date on the state forums, sorry...personal referrals would have to be via DM.

OP, I'd look at the Arkansas Dem-Gazette - don't know if their classifieds are online (they drive me nuts with the online edition)...I suspect you will find more in the way of rentals when actually there than anywhere else. I think there's a separate area for Alex. rentals, but look in the "southwest" rental section too. Sometimes the classified ads people get things a little mixed up...just make sure the rental is actually in Alexander and NOT in parts of southwest.

You might look in the Hwy. 5 area as well, out toward Otter Creek (on the west side of 430) and south to the county line or even past it some into Saline County. Your drive wouldn't be all that bad and you're spreading your area of focus out some.

By the way, are you going to work at Alexander Human Services? Just curious...

Thanks for your help! I have tried to look at the online edition of the Gazette, and I understand why it drives you nuts. But, I'll try again and see what I can find. I have a job offer from the juvenile detention center there (although that's not what it's officially called). Does the Alexander Human Services have a bad rep? (Wouldn't be surprised--most seem to.) Thanks again for all the info.

I knew last year a commission recommended the Juvenile Services housing there be closed...apparently there's not much difference between a misdemeanor and a felony charge there. It's all in who you listen to, I suppose - and it is a tough job and I commend you for trying. Several years ago the Democrat did an expose on the facility which was not very flattering - then again, it's a lock up and not a summer camp. I have issues with some news reporting or the lack thereof by the Democrat. I think I'm a lousy person to ask!
