Everyone should go and try to see the Gurdon Light just once. It's quite an experience!

The Crescent Hotel and Basin Park Hotel in Eureka Springs, as well as most of the city of Eureka are haunted. The old mine area out side of Harrison is haunted with the spirit of a murdered girl form the early 1900s. The Empress Hotel, Old Mill, and MacArthur Park in Little Rock.

In mulberry the old hospital is reputed to be haunted. I know of someone who once rented the place back in the 70's. She was convinced she saw the ghost of a little girl one night.

My wife, son, and I stayed the night and completed one of their "haunted tours." There were a number of "true believers" in the group. I felt it was great fun.

Interesting thread. When I was twelve, a young cousin and I were asked (told!) to put flowers on the graves in the
Fayetteville Confederate Cemetery on Confederate Memorial Day. I think this was a UDC function - just remember one of the old ladies telling me how inspiring it was to see true "children of the South" honoring our ancestors this way. I was in Fayetteville that summer due to serious illness in my family - my mother was helping with caregiving. I think the old ladies sponsoring the event were family friends.

Yeah, I thought the sweet old lady's comment was sappy, even back then, but politely smiled and thanked her.

I don't recall anything ghostly that day - it was sunny and hot and I recall that the downhill area was rather overgrown - probably kudzu.

My aunt's in-laws were very involved in the creation of the Battlefield Park in Prairie Grove, and were responsible for saving a number of the historic buildings which were moved there and restored. It's a very interesting and historic place, and a good example of what can be done in a small town with a rich history and determined citizens. I don't recall experiencing or hearing about any supernatural occurances there, however.

Sheena12, try an online search for "ghost tours" "little rock", and you'll find a number of things that should interest you. Ghost tours are a good way to explore a new city and get your bearings while learning some local lore.
