Thanks for the suggestions, everybody. My favorites were Petit Jean and Pinnacle Mtn. The stone at Petit Jean was beautiful! The red trail to the top of Pinnacle was pretty tough with all the boulders. Hawksbill Crag had a nice overlook but the road that takes you to the trailhead needs work. Yikes!

Even winter hiking is good on those frequent mild days....all the leaves are gone and you can really see the lay of the land and all the huge boulders, creeks are usually running well....there is no bad season in the Ozarks or Ouachitas, really.

Very true!

I moved to the Ozarks from MN in 2012.
Whenever family or friends ask when is a good time of the year to come down and enjoy the scenery, I always say........."Every season is unique"

Whether hiking or driving during winter in the Ozarks, I really appreciate the visibility one has with the leaves gone.
