OK I get it now and glad of how I voted even if it didn't matter.
So women shouldn't protest because it would mean someone else might have to watch their kids...that is about as sexist as it gets. Many of them took their kids with them, especially in the protests in hundreds of other cities around the country.

Really, it doesn't matter if you all don't get it. Because it wasn't about you.

Many are probably saying the What? I will say one positive for the Occupy Wall Street was: some of us were on a tour one Sunday in NYC. The driver took us by the scene and we all got a good laugh.

So says you. I guess you don't remember or where you alive at the time: his health was failing and basically he was not liked. So, the marchers probably had no effect on his deciding not to run again. If I remember right the Dems got beat in 1968, if the war and protesters were responsible for this, don't you think Mr. Liberal would have been the victor? No, protesters had nothing to do with Johnson's decission not to run. If they did they probably didn't bother to vote; now isn't that the American way, protest but don't take time out to vote.

I am also a woman. I stand on my own two feet, I work, vote, speak, take contraception, etc. because I have the same rights as any other human. I didn't need to go hold up vulgar signs and yell at people, then leave a mess at the taxpayers expense. My rights, nor yours, are in jeopardy.

google is your friend nita.... From LBJ's Chief of Staff: "The real reason for Mr. Johnson's withdrawal was Vietnam". link.

No one can argue that Vietnam was the reason he did not seek a second term, however, one can argue why Vietnam became the straw that broke the camels back...however again, no one can argue that protest marches against the Vietnam conflict faciltated it's conclusion: " In response to a strong anti-war mandate, Nixon announced the effective end to U.S. involvement in Southeast Asia in January 1973". link.

One can choose their own opinion to support their position, but one cannot choose their own facts to support their position. History shows that protests/marches do work to support the peoples agenda, do they work all the time, certainly history does not support that conclusion.... but where would we be without the tax protest in Boston harbor ?

I believe (opinion here) all major news organizations (save one) will report on the success of the marchers to organize and bring light to their positions.

Regards

The simple statement "voting women" how in the devil do any of us know if they are voting women? No one is trying to take away anyone's rights. Give us an example of what rights the new administration is taking away?
Marches aren't about "solving" issues. They are about raising awareness to issues. And, news alert, the marches were successful. Millions of people marched, they drew a lot of attention.

And the people who participated in the marches are politically involved, so it stands to reason if they are eligible to vote, they voted.

And yes, closing down Planned Parenthood does hurt women.

How are YOUR rights in jeopardy?

I work, I vote, and I realize that I have to be vigilant in our society. Women started out in this country as second-class citizens. We fought for the right to vote, and even then, we still were not equal to men. And we aren't equal today. Which is why some jerk on this thread asked who was watching the children while the women marched. Ummm. how about, their fathers?

When a President says that if his daughter was sexually harassed on the job, that he would hope she would seek out a different place of employment, that speaks to the President's mind-set. A mind-set that doesn't seek to address the problem, but does seek to place the burden on the woman to find a workplace that doesn't discriminate.

I have mixed feelings about planned parenthood as we have discussed time and time again on cd. I do not think the intent is to close them down, just not to use tax payers money to support them.

as for the marches voting; my personal feeling is: many of the marches were getting paid to march but I do not know that for a fact; even if they were not, I do feel very strongly many did not vote. People often demonstrate is many ways but do not bother to vote, sometimes it is simply because they neglected to register.

.........."Us women folk"...

Always a mistake when an individual tries to speak for everyone of either their gender, race, religion

I know many women who voted for Trump and certainly don't share your liberal views.

( most that I know are Pro-Life )
