Nolan Richardson taught the best full court defense. Full Court man to man, that's how you ball.

I live in the Jonesboro area but I am a die hard "hog" fan. I think if ASU can get Nolan they should. The dilapidated program at ASU needs a name to put people in the seats and could put them on the map for the first time in the Sun Belt conference. I believe it could eventually lead to an in state rivalry that would help the ASU program tremendously. People here that oppose the future Nolan era at ASU have really only stated a couple of issues they have. The first is Nolans age, they believe that he doesn't have the years left to see the program to success. I say to this-0% of nothing is nothing. Right now they have to give a majority of the tickets away to have the 1900 people per game there and if you only get three years fom him, maybe make a run at possibly being competitive in the conference, increase your ticket sales to fire people back up about this program, and it goes without saying-recruiting, recruiting, recruiting would benefit tremendously. Second is his issues of Nolan being Nolan. He has had his issues but I have no doubt that he has the kids best interest at heart and I truly believe issues at U of A were a direct result of Frank Broyles playing God. He made several bad decesions toward the end of his tenure that cost many good players a lot. In addition to the plus column, you have two of the 1994 National championship players that have just entered their careers in coaching. Corliss Williamson and Todd Day. Corliss at UCA and Todd is in Memphis at a semi pro team. It has been in the media in the last few weeks since this position opened at ASU these three have been seen together at several different locations:benefits, scholarship award ceremonies, and at Bud Walton arena. Could this be coincidence? Well one thing for sure-they were talking about ASU. It may not be in the future of these up and coming coaches to go to ASU but what a team they would make. I think ASU needs to make a good decesion here and do whatever they can to make this happen. At a news conference here Nolan said that money was not an issue but I am sure that one thing that will be an issue is Nolan will want complete control of his team and I feel he will be unyielding on this. I just don't know if ASU administration will have the confidence to make that move. One thing is for sure-if they don't it will leave them with egg on their face and the people here that are following this story will move further away from the ASU program. Like I said, I am a die hard "hog" fan but it would be so awesome to have a team here locally to go and watch that could actually have a winning season and to be honest I would support them if he makes the move to ASU.

I so agree
His "40 minutes of "hell' has been something I have not seen in college basketball since his departure. |

ASU may not win an NCAA championship title in ten years but they will be competitive in the conference and you cant tell me that there are not other head coaches in the Sunbelt that are not dreading facing this team if Nolan is at the helm.

Lol Dan...Stranger things have happened, you gotta think big!!
Just to clarify something in another post, Corliss is not coaching UCA, he's going to be at Arkansas Baptist College in LR. ESPN - Williamson to retire, take assistant job at Arkansas Baptist College - NBA |

I went to ASU..and the students could care less now about b-ball than they did when I went. I hope they do hire Nolan...it would be nice to have a local team that was competitive on the major front in basketball. Just bringing Nolan here would beef up ticket sales. Im all for it..I hear from unconfirmed sources (radio, talk radio) that the announcement will be Tuesday, March 11 on whom they have hired.

Seriously though Stormcrow, Nolan will end up somewhere. He is too good of a coach/teacher not to. I wonder though, did he have to stay out of coaching for a certain amount of time as a condition of his leaving UA?

I can't find anything saying he had stay out of coaching in the NCAA. I'm sure somewhere will hire him but I wasn't at all concerned about him for his sake. I just wanted to see another Arkansas school get some pub and possibly get themselves into the big dance a time or three and climb up the ladder of national respectability. We need some internal competition for the hearts and minds of the state.
