Near the Ozark National Forest is actually a pretty renown Zen monastery!
The abbot is Shoryu Bradley, his teacher is the very well known Shohaku Okumura who was one of the first Zen masters to come to America.
As I understand it the monastery is open to everyone, all done on donations so no cost for instruction and or services. It's done with a green model in mind to respect the beauty of this state and it's reverence for the diverse wild life and forests
And all religions, creeds, and ideologies are welcome as the practice is a Simply Sitting form of Zen which isn't based on beliefs and or creeds.
All in all a pretty neat place!
