I was listening to a radio show and the talk show host said Bentonville was in trouble as Walmart faltered. I thought the story was bogus but I did see that there was at least some truth to the lay offs. I do not know the Bentonville area so I don't know how it will affect or not the area.

you made an offer, all cash, on a house in BV and you don't know the Bentonville area? How interesting. You also now are listening to a talk show, I am not aware of any talk show except one that has a host that is from NWA or has any knowledge of the region. Of course, if Walmart went totally under it would affect the area, but how likely is that in the next 50 years? Think of all the fingers Walmart has in the pie?
As I mentioned, they lay off and rehire on a regular basis, just like many major companies.

Massive trend to online shopping from bricks and mortar is large to offset much less overcome. Even giant successes like Walmart have huge impact and adjustments ahead. Hold on to your seats going to be a bit rocky for a decade or more.

I would think that delivery services are going to be one of the most needed services out there in the coming years. Wal*Mart is going to be delivering in order to keep up with Amazon. Just guessing here.

exactly: Walmart hasn't gotten to where they are by not having foresight. Retail store fronts may change but people still have to have products and Walmart will be there, whether on line or some other way to bring the public what they need. At least for the immediate future. Who knows what is down the road in 20 years or so?
