As long as we refuse to properly take care of people with mental health problems and unaddressed childhood abuse why are we surprised that social problems like panhandling becomes an issue?

You've managed to invent an argument that you and only you created in this thread.

Someone referred to "lazy" people and you have managed to turn it into everyone wants to take away from disabled.

You have to get tired of inventing arguments.

Are you surprised that panhandling occurs when we dont take properly care of the people with mental health problems and disabilities?

Some people like to bring up the red herring about lazy people because they refuse to support a stronger public safety net for the people who need help. Look how difficult it is for people to answer a simple question. Should the people born disabled get more than $700 a month to survive on? And why dont you vote for people who fight hard to make that happen? These are the questions we have to ask ourselves. As long as we treat the least among us with such disregard, we shouldnt be surprised that social problems like panhandling occur.

So you are suggesting that these panhandlers are all mentally disabled? They can go stand on the corner and beg for money all day but they cannot go to work? Are you that naive? You must hand them lots of your own money then.

This discussion is not about how much money disabled get, but yes, I think we'd all agree that amount should be more. No one said otherwise.

Plenty of the homeless are mentally disabled and have lots of unaddressed mental issues. We simply do not provide the mental health care that people need as this is not what the ruling class want.

As long as we ignore the plight of the poor and the disabled and dont even make health care a right in this country for every citizen, we cant be surprised when we have so many social problems.

And who do you vote for to make sure that the people born disabled get more support? Hardly anyone actually vote based on the needs of the disabled. Thats why its crucial to focus on the lazy instead so the voters vote in line with what the big money donors want. We see this again and again. Is the plight of the disabled ever a campaign issue? No. Are the lazy brought up? Always.

What we seem to have among us is a Social Justice Warrior, and nothing we say will have any affect on him, because he just doesn't care about the truth. What is more, he may be one of the guys, or belong to a network of guys who scam the mentally disabled for a cut of their check, pretending he can get them more, and thus has a vested interest in getting them a bigger check, to line his own pockets. He came here to apply Saul Alinsky tactics on us, whether we are the real target or he is just practicing on us. I would suggest ignoring him, and let him find a different target to practice on.

Its just morally bankrupt.

And politicians who push these constant attacks on the "lazy people" are doing it precisely because they do NOT want a strong safety net for disabled people. Notice that politicians who rile people up about lazy people are the first to propose cuts to the public safety net for the disabled and the elderly. As that is what their big money donors instruct them to do. The attacks on the slothful is just the script they are given by these donors in order to prepare the public for the pain they inflict on disabled salt of the earth Americans who deserve our support.
THIS ^^^^^ Id rep you amillion times if i could .

If they don't give any information about themselves in their profile, and "PseudoCalifornia Mike" (my guess for what his name stands for, since his profile is empty) does not, then they cannot be trusted to truthfully tell their location in the thread. His normal posting area is Politics and Controversies, and he came here to hijack an already deceptively labeled thread, for the purpose of pushing a radical LEFTIST political agenda.

To me, that is trolling, since his comments had nothing honest to add to an already agenda driven discussion. If you look at his posting history, he is at least consistent in posting his radical Socialist beliefs. I think he would have been right at home with Chairman Mao, and if I could buy him a one way ticket to an already failed Socialist state, I would be happy to.

of course you are right on as usual. I too think he is from Ca and why he has chosen to push his views down our throats is beyond me: yes, a TROLL is a pretty good explanation. I doubt as long as we stop arguing with him and his misinformed views he will be back. He will move on to some other thread to try and sell his ideas.
