The Zaxby's is a brand new building just across central ave from Kroger. Maybe open about a year.

While I haven't been by the boat shop/marina behind Walmart in several months, it was opened the last time I checked. A friend has his boat stored there, so pretty sure he would have said something if it was closed.

The only part of the mall I ever use is Dillard's, so I haven't been in the mall in a few years. So I asked a friend today about the situation inside the mall and it is in decline as has already been discussed. I will say that central ave traffic, in the 7 south area, was as busy as racing season the week of Christmas.

"Image capture Jun 2017"

But I doubt those are the same cars that were there 10 years ago.

Where do you find the date of image capture?

Update: OOps: Disregard, I see it now.

I guess you have never seen Austin.
Austin is about as congested as Hot Springs.
Hmm...well, 'where are you from' is like asking "What do YOU know?" Well, I will share with you:
I'm "from" Lafayette Louisiana, was raised in Beaumont and the Greater Los Angeles area as a child, and lived in Austin as an adolescent, recently returned to Louisiana, but to Baton Rouge, and visited Hot Springs this fall passing through en route to see spectacular fall foliage...So in theory, I'm from ALL OVER and honestly, Demopolis, AL is in the "Black Belt" on the fringes of the state near the Mississippi line. (Meridian would be the closest city) I used that illustration to demonstrate the contrast,. Demopolis, Alabama has no value to the forum discussion we are having. LOL

If you're alright with congestion, then great ! But are you alright with isolation? Hot Springs is small and limited. Austin is similarly "hilly" but Hot Springs terrain varies much greater, so to prevent KILLING the transmission on your vehicle(s) just be careful. I've lived in mountainous and hilly areas...hated it when I had car issues. Hot Springs itself would be a better choice if it were "closer" to the outside world...it just feels remote, as compared with Austin.

Agree.
DH & I, while living in the DFW area, spent time in Hot Springs every year for 35 years - in summer, fall, and horse racing season. Briefly considered retiring there but lack of cultural amenities coupled with summer heat and humidity made it a no go. Still great place to visit though!

We also spent much time in Austin and hill country every year. Briefly considered retiring there but summer heat, crazy and unpredictable storms, and congestion made it a no go. Not even a good place to visit anymore IMO.

We landed in Fayetteville, been here just over a year and love it more every day. Anyone seeking to relocate from Austin to AR should seriously consider it. The *only* thing we find lacking here is Tex-Mex and good barbecue.

I will be landing about 100 miles (mostly) East of you,
and will be looking for the same,
so if I find any, I will try to let you know

i didn't comment on that particular pic, because i agree, it has looked like that for a long, long time. now, what is going on there, i can only speculate. but, it is not indicative of the hot springs area. all the other car lots actually turn their inventory.
