Aside from cold Winters, this state has nearly the perfect 4 seasons anyone could want. I'm a Summer person, for obvious reasons.
was hoping you were saying it tongue in cheek. Yes, we do have pretty decent weather considering we have all 4 seasons.

Just make sure you get at least 15-20 days of never getting above 50 degrees, to kill off the Brazilian Fire Ants.

In Central Texas this year, for the first time, we will make it to 15 days below 55 degrees, which should have an impact on their numbers, but won't completely kill them off.
I am in Plano, Tx.counting on this cold snap to kill off our bugs and insects too. Getting a good old fashioned hard freeze this year.. 60 hours below freezing and still counting. Expect to hit about 80 in total

Is that the required time? By the time this is over, I'll have been below freezing for one week. Hoping it kills some of our ticks and red bugs.

Every different kind of "bug" has its own achilles heel.
For fire ants, they store about 15 days food in their nest. And storing more doesn't seem to work for them (can't remember why), so it is virtually impossible for them to adapt to longer cold spells. (They adapted to freezing weather by digging deeper, but that doesn't work for longer)

Would be nice to know what the achilles heel of ticks is
(Unfortunately, unlike my hero Gil Grissom, I am not an entomologist )
