"There" should be "Their" if you were to use proper English. Apparently you are not from Texarkana originally.

The world doesn't revolve around who is pro-gay or anti-gay, except in the minds of people like you, Paul. No one's cause is the paramount feature of any society. That's a very narcissistic and narrow point of view. If anyone held to your level of vitreol from the other side of the social/political spectrum, you would no doubt label them as haters. Try a little humility. By the way, WalMart is a warmed-over topic that no one really cares about anymore. They're still hiring, paying, selling, and aren't asking for a government handout. C'mon, man show some respect.

There is no way I'm reading all this cr**, but my husband and I visited Arkansas (seven years ago already!). We found it very beautiful. The people were friendly for the most part, and, well...it was like any other state in the Union basically (re: people, society, roads, stores, etc.). We end up there a little by happenstance, but I'm glad we did--it wouldn't have been high up on our list to visit otherwise. If there weren't so many other places to see, I would go back (or, I suppose, if I had more money and time to vacation).

It is fun to pick on other states...I don't know why, but we all indulge in it.

Well, as I've stated before, I live in Louisiana and own a house in north Arkansas. I plan to live in the Arkansas house one day, the sooner, the better! The statement the person made about living in California, Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas and that the people in Arkansas are all so weird. I think this is a very ridiculuos statement. I can't speak for California, never been there. I've heard mostly bad comments about it though. I can speak for the others. I live 3 miles from Arkansas and 70 miles from Texas and go to each regularly. The people from all 3 states are perfectly normal people. Now as everyone knows, there is a bad apple in every bag. It don't matter where you go. So please don't judge the whole state as weird just because you have met some people you don't like. Go out and make some friends and I think you may change your mind before long. As far as the roads, Louisiana takes first place for bad roads, hands down, not even close. I went to Shreveport yesterday. I-20 has got to be the worst interstate I've ever ridden on. They need to change the speed limit to 60 because when you hit some of those holes and bumps going 70, It's scary!

Yes, I've always thought the roads were well-maintained in Arkansas. Guess it's because I'm from Louisiana! But seriously, I'm always amazed at the number of extremely passable roads (miles and miles and miles of gravel!) that meander throughout all that beautiful wilderness in Arkansas, and I always wonder, as we're traversing them in a plain old 2-WD, low-slung, Montana van, how in the world they manage to keep them all up so well. It's rare to find a gravel road out in the boonies that is just totally impassable. Seriously!

Y'all go to the Cloudland Journal today (www.cloudland.net/currentjournal.html) to see some good pictures of the waterfalls and high Buffalo River created by the recent rain. They're great. That is SUCH a beautiful part of the world.

Yes, indeedy.

We got great roads. The words "straight" and "level" do not exist down here, however. Extinction via non-use, non-applicable.

I just wish I knew how to drive as fast on them as these ol' boys do. I get passed by grannies.

I belive it's the "bootlegger' gene.

A little known gene.

Back in "the day" (a LOT happened that day!), good ol' boys in the south would hop-up their engines, beef-up their suspensions, add extra tanks for "corn squeezin's", and make the run.

They had to outrun the Feds, so they got real good real fast.

(Sidebar.......when somebody around here comes through the door and yells, "Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms", don't freak out, they're bringing the party supplies).

Anyway.....that is where NASCAR got started, and a lot of the early drivers got disqualified because of they didn't run fast enough, got caught, and had criminal records (RogMar's factoid of the week).

So...that gene was passed through the generations, and displays itself to this day, and that's why I get passed all the time.

My dad took me up to the pig trail as part of my learning to drive routine, he took learning to drive seriosly too. You've got to use the brake before you get to the corner and then accelerate into them.
It scarred the crap out of me too.
Not to mention the fact that he insisted I learn on a standard which made things even more fun. If you can drive a standard you can drive anything was his motto.
But in the long run I guess I am better for it, well a better driver if nothing else.

I'm not sure which pig trail it was but I garruntee it had some drop offs. I might go look for it someday.

what the heck does that mean? would I want their life style? Heck no, do I think parents can give all the love needed to 18 kids? NO, but this has nothing to do with AR and most people in AR don't live the type of life they live. The Duggars are honest, hard working, believe in family, have high morals and live a simple life, is there something wrong with that??

I rarely make any referance to grammar or spelling as I am dyslesic but when someone refers to people as being retards and yet use a word incorrectly I can't keep quiet. There should be their, maybe spending so much time (an entire year) in Ar put you into the same catagory you are putting others in.

Oh, as for the roads? you think LA has better, how about Texas? Calif, yes, but they also have outrageous gasoline tax.

Texaskansas is as Texas as it is AR, people are not weird, different from you maybe, but not weird, or maybe we should say not snobs. I doubt you have any idea what life was like in the 20s.

Gee I notice you are new the this thread and really haven't come back since making you anti-Ar statements. wonder why?

Oh, and btw, how could you have worked in Calif when in one post you entered yesterday, you claim to have never been in California. You know what? I think you are full of a lot of bull and maybe full or yourself, but too young to really appreciate the real world..
