You should make a day of it...you can go back to Fayetteville when you hit Hwy. 16 at Brashears (which is a beautiful drive also) and then go back down to Ft. Smith. Wish I could be doing that today! It's a great drive in the winter because the leaves are all gone and you can see the rocks and the folds of the mountains better. It's also a great drive in the spring, summer, and fall.
Yeah, If gas stays down I might actually be able to afford it again. I think we did circle back through Fayettville and then took the new 40 (it really was new then) back to Fort Smith.

The backward part came naturally for me.

I had to work hard on "hick".

Silverspank is on a distinguished road
This is my assesment of AR after living here for 6 months. I work in Jacksonville and live near Cabot. First, the roads are awful! I never driven on anything worse than the roads near where I live. HWY 67 will set off your airbag, I swear! Potholes that will swallow your tires. Second, the taxes are unbelievable, up to 11% on store purchases, 12% on restaurant purchases. Third, now that the leaves have fallen and you can actually see past the trees, I see trash everywhere. At least once every other week I see a new dump site on the side of the road where someone just dumps a truck load of trash. Forth, most cars that are sold here do not come with blinkers installed. I haven't seen one yet! How can you be proud of a state like this!

As I have said before. You want to see some bad roads, come to Louisiana. As for trash, tell me where you can go and not see trash. People love to trash up the place no matter where you go. I see trash crews working a lot in Arkansas. I have nothing good to say about the taxes! I'm not trying to provoke an argument, I'm just saying that I don't think you should be so critical of things in Arkansas that's the same everywhere else.
