Looking for economic forecasts on Blytheville.Do you see growth or slowdown apart from the current recession or near recession?

Other than Jonesboro and the Arkansas side of the Memphis Metro, that whole side of the state has been dying for the past 30 years. So to directly answer your question, definetly a "slowdown".

well to update this thread... We are NOT on a Slowdown. Walgreen's is coming here. We have New Jobs coming in. Wal-mart is talking about putting in a food distributing warehouse that will employee 300-400 people. We have 2 New Steel Meel's, not sure what it is called, but something to do with airplane's will employee 400-500 people is going to be out at the old airbase...
Now to the crime..... Yes, we have it here but its everywhere!! I have lived here most my life, and I believe in our city. Some say live in Gosnell or Armorel they have Crime there too, you just don't here about it like in Blytheville.. To be honest Crime is all over no matter where you choose to live crime is there, maybe not today but it somehow makes it way to reach everyone.

well blythevillegal I was born and raised here and its going down all the time furthermore alot of people work here from missouri but dont live here. most of the population is either welfare thugs wanting a hand out not a hand up. Some of the people that rant and rave about beleiving in their city are those that just want to keep their "city" positions and city pay. most middle income people are here only because of family and the rich are here because they want to make money off the people that are struck and cant afford to move

Smile it's a slowdown

When are we getting a Walgreens this is news to me, and about the food distributor for wal-mart, that too?? I do know it is such a shame that our Starbucks that has not been open even a year was one of the ones on the list to be closed! It is such a beautiful store I hope some one buys it and puts it to good use! If our Air Force Base was still open to the day this town would be boomin'. I remember how much better it was back then and I miss it still today!

Whenever a person downplays the crime rate of their city with a flippant comment of---"yes we have it here ,but it's everwhere""-- I scratch that city from the list of places I will ever relocate to.

I used to check daily the real estate available in Blythville and considered it for a visit to check out re-location.

There are a lot more places in the south worthy of me making a trip to.

I've rarely heard anything good about Blytheville, but things were much better when the Air Force base was in town. I remember going there in high school, and they let us use the flight simulator. VERY cool. It was one of those big ones, where you get in a realistic cockpit, and the whole thing moves with you... I was the only one who landed without crashing. Should have been a pilot. Of course, I landed in the grass, not the runway...
