That wasn't a stranger, that was an angel.

i'm extremely curious to what criteria you're using to make that assumption...
You obviously have NEVER been anywhere near west allis...

In the future, it's really not safe to take rides with strangers. Sometimes, they are not nice people.

Not kidding. Dead serious.
I could make a bunch of comparisons, but this isn't the best subforum for that.
Yes, I've lived close enough to Stallis to frequent a Chinese restaurant on Beloit Rd.
Around Milwaukee, it's easy to do better, but nationally, it's not nearly as bad as people in Wisconsin make it out to be.

I don't believe it :P

Arkansas is MUCH prettier than Wisconsin. the very few people i crossed paths with there are much friendlier too. not to mention the weather is much warmer (at least i'm assuming... i only went during the summer)

Well believe it. It's true.

Most places are scenic, as long as they're clean.
Arkansas can do better on the clean/cluttered-look front.
The weather is hotter, Wisconsin is colder, neither one would make San Diego jealous.
Any state will have every kind of person, but I'll just say our experiences with friendliness have been quite different.

It shocked and amazed me because I always thought mountains were very far away, like way out in California or Montana, but I never knew they were so close in Arkansas.
It's nothing like out west, nothing. Frankly the drives in the mid-west are very boring although the Ozarks are pretty.
If Arkansas impressed you, the true west will freak you out.

You used to be able to do this years ago - hitch a ride with truckdrivers crossing the country that just wanted company for the drive. No longer. Against truck company rules and all that, then there is the safety issue.

But the one question - this trip wasn't that far or extensive really, frankly it's not even that impressive - why take a road trip with a complete stranger? I would prefer to do it with a friend in my own vehicle so I have control of when I want to stop. Back when I was your age I would just hope in a car with friends and gas money and a change of clothes, no big deal.

What's the issue here people?

"Europe" or "China" or "the moon" for many is on the "I'd love to take a trip like this some day" agenda, not a 700 mile roundtrip. Just do it.
