I will be relocating to NWA soon due to a job opportunity. Can anyone tell me the best or worst place to live... Rogers, Bentonville, Centerton are all areas that I have searched for homes in. Does anyone know of any African - American social networks, churches, or the like? I will not know anyone in the area.

Fayetteville will probably be your best best for diversity. Somebody else can give you specifics.

White Non-Hispanic (84.0%) Black (5.1%) Hispanic (4.9%) Two or more races (2.4%) American Indian (2.3%) Other race (2.0%) Chinese (0.9%) Other Asian (0.6%) Fayetteville is the most diverse place in NWA, but I would not call it "diverse". |

Can't help you with the African-American networks or churches- I am just a white girl. lol. Fayetteville does seem to be more racially diverse than other NWA towns, but I am also partial, as I think Fayetteville is great. As far as not knowing anyone, been there done that when I moved around the country. It is scary, but a blessing at the same time. IMO people in this area are so friendly, if you have to be a newbie, there is no better place! best wishes. just let us know if you have other ??'s |

NWA is very white and suburban, but Washington county is more diverse than Benton county. I would recommend Fayetteville. I would NOT recommend Rogers or Bentonville.

I am hispanic and live in Bentonville and enjoy it alot. I wouldnt worry about the diversity. Just look for something in your price range and with a commute to work you can deal with and you should be fine. As far as churches, wish I could help you. Good luck with the move.

There is an African-American business/social network group that was featured in the paper a few days ago. NWAnews.com :: Northwest Arkansas' News Source
The African-American and minority population is growing and seems quite active in promoting networking for business and social. There are a number of predominantly black churches as well, though I am not as familiar. We are members of First Baptist in Bentonville and former members of the Church at Pinnacle Hills in Rogers. Though predominantly, white, both have active African-American members. I say that to make the general statement that finding a place to worship in the theology and style you prefer should not be a problem. |
