Advertisements

I used to see advertisements for this chain on KATV but never ate one of their products.

Not only do I remember it but I ate my share of their burgers. My first experience with their "Radar Pie" (which was heated by what we now call microwave) was a burned tongue and mouth. It was hotter than "fresh out of the oven" at home.

For the history, Google "minuteman restaurants Arkansas" and click the Link for Arkansasencyclopedia.

A story about Wes Hall that few people know about; In the 1970s we had several floods in North Little Rock and our National Guard Armory was set up as a shelter for the victims. I was on duty one evening when a man showed up and introduced himself as Wes Hall (which meant nothing to me at the time) and asked if it was O.K. for him to bring in some food for the victims. Expecting "snacks", I told him that would be O.K.. He brought in tubs of hamburgers and everyone got their fill! For some it was the first food they'd had for hours. I don't remember how many times he came, but in visiting with him I learned that he was the owner of Minuteman.

There is still a Minute Man open in El Dorado. Been there for many years (since my high school days in late 60s) and still doing great. Burgers good as ever.

We had a Minute Man here in Arkadelphia. It was right on Highway 67/7 right next to the Ouachita Baptist University football field. The Campus Drive-In was right across the street. Both are long gone now!

I'm going to get around to eating at the Minute Man in El Dorado someday!

When did the one on Broadway in Little Rock close. I was so disappointed when I came back to Arkansas and it wasn't there any more. I thought it was the last one but nice to hear there is one in El Dorado. Didn't they have franchises over much of the South years ago?

I don't remember when it closed, and was taken down, but it has been several years.

I ate at the Minute Man off Broadway a couple of times, but I'm from southwest Arkansas, about 50 miles from Texarkana. I ate hamburgers several time at that Minuted Man, they were always very good. Good hamburgers are hard to find now days.

I like eating at Bonanzas, but they're all gone too. The last time I ate at one was either at Brinkley or Forest City not many years back, yet I hear that its now shut down.
