I would think that would be extremely difficult. Without being a US citizen plus the way the housing market is right now bank loans are harder to get. Especially for first time buyers.

Actually, it's fairly easy to buy property here in the US and not be a citizen so long as you are legal and authorised to work, yada yada. Getting a loan is still not terribly hard if you have reasonable credit. If you have little to no credit history then forget it. It's finally back to the way it should have always been.
