I live "up on the mountain" near Deer at 2200'. I took this picture yesterday. The snow on the ground is leftover from Saturday and the white in the trees is from several days of freezing fog. The highway was fine but my 2 miles of dirt road to my house is like a sheet of ice. It's Saturday morning and I'm at 10f with a high of 19f today , low of 4f.
Holly, I'm in Hot Springs Village, live on a ridge at about 1100' elevation. We are several hundred feet higher than say the main gate, and we often get freezing temps and ice or snow that is just rain a few hundred feet lower. I'm sure you've noticed the same thing.

We ended up with 1/4 inch of ice from the first storm, 8 inches of snow a day or two later, the two days later another 6 inches of snow. So 1/2 inch of ice and 14 inches of snow total.

We got mail on the 13th, then the storms hit and we didn't have any mail again until the 21st. and the mailman was the first one down our road in 9 days. The unusual thing about this storm was how long it stuck around. Usually if we get snow it's gone the next day.

Normally like this (minus the bear)

After the storm (I Had cleared the driveway and my truck after round 1 of the snow)

My brother lives up near Searcy and got enough snow that the roof of his shop collapsed.

Same story down in South TX. I heard they were up in the 80’s today. That’s just how the weather goes in the South. Most of the winters I spent in GA, on my commute to work, I would run the car heater in the morning and the AC in the afternoon. Here in AR isn’t much different.
I know. Man, do I miss it. Time for the spring thunderstorms to start revving up down there, too. I haven't seen a good thunderstorm in 2 years or so. The window for those north of the Twin Cities is usually pretty small because the cold air masses tend to be harder to push out. Southern Minnesota gets some great storms, though. About 5 years ago we did a spur of the moment trip from North Texas to Conway, AR and just as we were coming into Conway a monster line of storms developed and met us head on. We decided to get a hotel and stay overnight even though we hadn't packed anything....it was fun. Got into the hotel in time to take cover and then afterward we took a drive up 65 to Clinton just in time to take in an awesome post rain sunset.

Eh, I'm rambling. Arkansas memories.

Beautiful landscape in your next post! (Even the one with snow)

I have a condo in hot springs ( on lake Hamilton) and I did get a notice from my alarm app one night last week that there was a power outage, found out later, it was a rolling blackout. It lasted about 30 minutes, if I remember correctly.

Also , sorry about your brothers shop.

Thanks for sharing the pictures, I think your area, mid part of the state, had more snow for this storm than we did. Sorry to see that on your brother's shop though, hope he can get it fixed quickly.

The snow is so pretty, but we've had enough this year. I'm ready for Spring.

The shop is less than 3 years old. The builder is going to stand behind it and repair it. Of course that doesn't cover everything damaged or destroyed inside. I don't get a warm fuzzy from his insurance company.
