nmnita, you do NOT want a persimmon tree in your yard unless it is out in the open where it can be mown around, far, far away from any flower beds. The seeds come up like crazy in the spring. This is why I'm fixing to cut mine. If you really want one, though, they do have large, shiny, deep green leaves and the persimmons are pretty in the fall when they turn orangey-gold. If you can find seeds, you won't have ANY trouble getting one to come up! ![]() |

Okay - A) you were my guinea pig, lol! I was just reminding everyone, it just happened to be your post that jogged my mind.
On the top row, the 2nd and 4th ones...and on the bottom row, the 1st and 3rd - those could look like spoons, I guess - they sorta just look like leaves. That one next to the last on the far right on the bottom row, and the first one on the first row? Those kinda look like a knife...so does this mean we will have screwed up weather again, or is this the prediction for the 2007 year, which was most definitely screwed up??? I always thought persimmons would be neat to have - now I don't want those seeds for more than one reason...sounds as bad as all the pecan pollen "worms" we have now...OMG...TONS of them!

Having lived in Hot Springs, visited Hot Springs Village many times, and now living in NWA (all of 2 weeks), I'm going to tell you that it's more expensive to live in NWA, but "you get what you pay for." Hot Springs is a cute touristy town. Its OLD bathhouse row and horse track lend the town a certain charm, and if that's what you like, you'll never get bored. The race traffic can be a little brutal. But the town has really grown since I left there in 1989, and offers better shopping and a lot more restaurants! My parents were married in Hot Springs, so we still visit there regularly and climb the mountain. It's our family tradition. There are lots of wooded areas, cheap lakefront properties, and beautiful places to retreat.
Hot Springs Village... What an awesome place to retire. And you're right... some really inexpensive homes. I've known of a LOT of people from all over the place (South Dakota, Illinois, Texas, etc.) to retire there, and they love it. It's its own little village, out in the middle of nowhere, and it's hilly, wooded, and has a little shopping nearby. NOthing major. You'd still need to drive to Little Rock for serious shopping. NWA... This is the best kept secret in all of Arkansas. You're going to pay more for a home here, but there is so much to see and do (including lots of nature, walking trails, places to retreat, family fun, etc., etc., etc., EXCELLENT restaurants, EXCELLENT shopping, and FRIENDLY FRIENDLY FRIENDLY. The people in HSV (and even Hot Springs) are not that friendly compared to NWA. Everyone here is so happy and helpful and glad you're here. It's a world of difference. Hot Springs is nice. NWA (Springdale to be exact) is WONDERFUL. Let me know if I can help you in any other ways! Happy deciding, and tell me what you choose!!! stephwilson72762@cox.net steph ![]() |
