Several years ago the Studebaker building was restored by George Reeb and is used to display some of his private collection of antique and classic cars. 60+ years ago I was a bellhop at the Antlers Hotel, across the corner from the Studebaker dealership and probably knew your Grandfather and Uncle, but at this time can't remember their names. As is often said; "Ain't it a small world?"

AK, I just had to put in my two bits worth about QWSP&L. When I was a kid I crawled all over and through the ruins of the first Queen Wilhemina Hotel. We called it the castle, and yes, it was and is beautiful country.

I may have to make a visit over there! It's been too long for sure.
It will be sad to see how much the tornado changed things though!

Good morning all! Just returned from a long weekend over in Mena. First let me say that I am astounded by the fact that only 3 people lost thier lives judging from the damage I saw. Incredible! On Saturday I was fishing at Lake Wilhelmina. Sitting on the bank looking up at the fog enshrouded top of Rich Mtn. Everything a deep shade of green standing out against the white fog.Crappie and catfish are biting. 4 hours of "not a care in the world!" How lucky y'all are to live over there! Although I live in a beautiful area also, there is just "something" about that part of Arkansas that makes me not want to leave every time I go there. Who knows? Maybe I can find myself a few acres of that paradise someday.

Capt. Dan, I could tell you some wonderful stories about wandering through those mountains and valleys while growing up in Mena. I just couldn't make a living there.

I guess what I had in mind was 1 or 2 acres where I could put an old trailer on so I could have a place to stay when I go over to fish and see my grand kids. Anywhere between Mena and Mt. Ida would be okay with me.

Buy 10 and you don't have the restrictions.
Only rule is the septic and well have got to be 100 feet apart.

Between Mena and Mt. Ida would be a good choice and there should be some acres available through there. You may have to get off Hiway 88 and 270, but that would be better anyway.

Mena Arkansas
Some more bad news for the tornado victims. Polk County Judge Ray Stanley is quoted as saying it is going to cost the owners of demolished homes about $2,400 to have the left-overs hauled off and insurance companies (if the owner had a policy) is paying only a fraction of that.
