Arkansas
Thought y'all might like to see the Web Site USeeWildlife.com Your Window To Nature Home Page It is a new site that has a live feed of wildlife, with sound, from remote, unmanned cameras in Arkansas. I think if you take a look you'll love it. I did.

After the Feb 5th tornado, Dan, one guy lost 200 head of cattle. Dead in the field.
I mean the guys house and outbuildings are gone, and the EPA comes in and says, "You have two weeks to bury that cattle".
He called all around, as you can imagine, *everybody* was backed up, and he didn't make the cut-off date.
Got fined $200 a head for not burying them in the time span.
And still had to get someone to bury them

Some people would gripe if you hung them with a new rope.

Hassayampa Slim and whitebutterfly - How did y'all's Mena quest turn out? Just nosey! I gotta get over there soon and get some stuff out of Sister's house that was damaged to the point it's going to have to be taken down. In case one of you are interested in a soon to be vacant lot just off the corner of the City Park, it probably will go at a good price. Hey, this isn't a commercial solicitation, just a thought.

Hey Arkansas, Real sorry to hear about your sister's place. I take it she was not physically harmed, so that's the important thing. We still haven't found a place in Mena yet that we can come to a meeting of the minds on. The "soon to be empty" lot in town sounds interesting, but I'll leave it to a younger slim to tackle a "new build". Since we attended the Methodist Church across from the park, I know the area there and it would make a real nice location. Sure wouldn't need to drive much.
By the way, we've had an unusual streak of "cool" weather and for the last week we've had Arkansas weather; it's only been in the mid to high nineties. Unfortunately, the forecast has us heading back up to our usual 105 - 115 starting Sunday.
Hope it all works out for your sis,
Slim

This is what I can't understand about this country. The government can spend trillions upon trillions overseas and yet can't send a backhoe to help this man bury his cattle. There is something inherently wrong with that.

Thanks for your concern for Sis. She lives and works in Hot Springs and is O.K. I talked to her tonight and she still hasn't decided what to do about the house.
I fully understand the temp. The first time I visited Dad in Phoenix I flew out, and that was before they had "gate ramps" at the airport and we unloaded out on the asphalt. When I stepped out the door of the plane I thought I had stepped into an oven. When I got into the terminal to meet Dad I asked him what was the temp. He said "Aw it's down to about 117 today."
I love southern Arizona and that would be my second choice for a place to live - after the Ouachita Mountains. I do volunteer archeology work for the Ouachita National Forest (mostly south and east of Mena) and that is my world.

Hi Hassayampa Slim,
Thanks for the reply and sorry but the photo did not show up. And you were my first answer! So I still don't know if it was damaged.
I do have many photos though of the building from about 10 years ago.
But I saw on the news that the library and Esso station were damaged and the Studebaker bldg. would be right in that line so I sure would like to know.
If you know or have a photo maybe you can email me directly. kelli@globalgrl.com
thanks so much!
