Everyone's awesome input helped us decide on buying a beautiful house in Hillcrest, so I thought I'd put another question out there:
What is the best (fastest more important than cost, but cost also a factor) internet service available in Hillcrest? We also want to get a landline and tv service. I'm leaning towards DirectTV for TV only because they have some of the international channels that aren't available with other companies. But their satellite internet doesn't sound like a good idea, so I would like some other company for internet (and the phone line). Thanks in advance! |

Comcast by far. They offer 16/2 service on their standard tier. AT&T offers 3/512 on their standard tier and 6/768 on their 'upgraded' tier.

Being anti-cable I'll stick with dsl even though it's slower. AT&T is probably the best for DSL in the area if you go that route.

But which one is the most reliable? We have a small in-home business, and need internet when we move to Arkansas.

We had an internet based home business when we lived in Little Rock. We used SBC then (AT&T now) and were pleased with their DLS service. We formerly had Alltel DLS, but I believe they no longer provide home service.

I have only had Comcast go down once in the 5 months I have lived here, and that was after the big storm. Don't let anybody talk you into AT&T, you get far less for what you pay.

I have AT&T now and I'm about to switch. It's in and out all the time and sometimes I work from home and get cut off way too frequently. Cable's generally all below ground in LR as well which gives it more reliability (I had Comcast in Dallas and the lines were on the telephone poles.

I still refuse to support any cable company.

Stormcrow, curious to know why you don't support any cable company. I had been happy with my comcast service in GA and was going to use them simply because they are faster than ATT's basic internet. However, comcast has taken over 2 weeks to respond to my service request. The local office is extremely slow and unhelpful (at times rude). I still might switch if the internet is painfully slow, but at least I'll have internet for now.

well we will have no choice in BV, as ATT is all they offer. I too, have a home based business, I am a travel agent and have cliants all over the company. As for cable, we prefer satellite so guess we will do the DSL via AT&T, forget the actually cable and use Direct TV.
