Default relocating from the UK to Marion

We are moving to the States in July. My husband has a one year job at the Bonheur hospital in Memphis. we are currently in Memphis looking for houses and schools but are finding it rather difficult to find houses/apartments with good elementary schools associated with them in safe areas. One realtor suggested that we try Marion as that would fit easily within the 20 min radius that we were given by the hospital. Would anyone have an opinion on this? Can anyone suggest any nice suburbs ... or any that we should avoid? Can anyone provide us with some names of good elementary public schools in the area? I know that it is a lot of questions but we are totally confused by it all.

I think there is only one elementary school in Marion. For the best advice on Marion I would call the Marion chamber of commerce.(870) 739-6041

Marion CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, Arkansas, apartments, motels, jobs

just a question...have you looked into Germantown..on the east of Memphis? Its a very nice.

Germantown and Collierville have good public schools. Bartlett schools are fine too. Homes in those areas (esp the first 2) will be much, much more expensive than anything in Marion. It all depends on your budget. They will also be a longer drive (maybe, bridge traffic is horrible).

Le Bonheur

Default Marion...

I live in Marion, Love it. Schools are great, people are great. Only crime is bored kids. I live in River Trace, lots of new houses, or established houses for sale and better than memphis prices. My Home is 300K, with a pool, almost an acre, pool house, 4 br + office etc etc. Great Neighborhoods as well. Good Luck!

Default west memphis bound

Hello. My husband just accepted a job with the Highway Police and we will have to move to the West Memphis area. Everyone says to look at Marion. I am a nurse(LPN) and would love to work anywhere as long as I could have daytime hours. He will have to do rotating shifts at the weigh station and we have two small children and I really need a day position. If anyone could help me out Please feel free to.

Default Congratualtions...

My Father just retired from KHP as a DEA leisan(SP)? There are a lot of nice houses in both Marion and West Memphis. Moderator cut: edit I highly reccomend Carolyn Foster or anyone at Coldwell Banker Heritage Homes.[/color] River Trace is a very nice area with homes from the High 100's to above 500K. There is a lot of new construction as well and it just depends on what you are looking for. When we moved here 4 years ago we chose to go more developed neighborhood, not sitting on the tracks, and landscaping already done, plus it already had a pool installed. We are very happy with our decision, just haveing to move for job reasons. I know of one Trooper who lives in River Trace and several who live by the Marion Schools. They will be able to give your husband all kids on information.

As far as working as an LPN. You should have no problem. I work at Methodist University Hospital and it takes 12 minutes to get from River Trace to the parking Garage. There is also LeBonheur, Surgery Centers, Nursing Homes, you name it. You should have not trouble gettinga day time job as alot of people are wanting the weekend options these days.

Good Luck,
