Default Moving to Fayetteville

Hi:

We are relocating fom Seattle, Washington to Fayetteville Arkansas. Home prices in Seattle are crazy so I would like to take advantage of that buying power and purchase something really great in Fayetteville. Is there a particular neighborhood that stands out?

Thanks you, Maddyg

Hey Maddy, there isn't really a better part of town than any other as far as safety or any of the other typical concerns you might have. If you stay on the west side then you are more readily close to I540. Most people will tell you that the West 6th street area would the only area to stay away from but it really isn't all [i]that[i] bad. You could walk around there at night and not be unsafe. It's just that area is a bit run down and needing a face lift. I figure though, coming from Seattle, you'll be well above that price range anyway. What sort of amenities are you looking for? Do you want to feel like you're out of town a bit but still convenient? Do you have kids and want an outstanding school? Or do you want a more urbanish type environment?

hmmm, IMO anywhere near Wilson Park or Dickson Street.....It's funny b/c I moved from there three yrs. ago and have been in Seattle. I'm leaving Seattle this summer though.
Back on topic, those are my fave areas in Fay. Although I am not sure what you are looking for so if you could tell me like if you want to be kinda out of townish or in the hip areas..or just a upscale neighborhood, anyway just let me know. For the money you would have to spend here in Seattle for a house you could prob. buy 3 of them in Fay....Or a mansion...your choice.LOL.

Thanks so much for replying. At this time we live in a golf course community in the Seattle Suburbs. In fact we are just a few miles from Microsoft so the amount of growth in this small community has exploded along with housing prices.

Our family has enjoyed our home here in that we have a great deal of privacy and still enjoy the social aspects of living in a community. My son is 14 years old so I am very concern about finding the right school. He has been in private catholic schools all his life but it does not appear you have a Catholic highschool in the area.

I have not visited Fayetteville but I have visited Bentonville. I was impressed with Pinnacle Hills Country Club. However, the commute would be too long to live in that neighborhood. Is there anywhere similiar in Fayetteville? I would prefer not to be too isolated less I get lonely for friends and family! My husband moved as a kid all his life. I didn't so I am a little nervous about being too far out of the city. Where are the hip neighborhoods?

the ones I mentioned are the hip ones,IMO. All the time growing up...and still Dickson street is the place to be! There is so much to do there. It is fun. So anywhere in that area is nice. But there are so many homes to choose from in the area. So keep your options open.
As far as schools, I personally went to Springdale High which is in Springdale. Do not send him there! Fay. High is where everyone I knew went, which is A LOT better than Springdale High! As far as private schools, honestly I didn't know anyone who went, I am actually unsure as to if there are any, I am sure someone on here could help you with that though. Sorry!
Oh, and if you plan on sticking around there, U of A is right in Fay. so your son could go there if you wanted to check that out in the future.
I hoped I helped a little bit at least.
