Default Auto / Home Insurance in Arkansas?

We're moving in about 30 days to west Little Rock.

We use AAA in southern California for auto insurance plus roadside assistance... we're closing on a home in June also, so we'll need homeowner's as well.

I've requested a quote from the AAA Little Rock office... any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Don't forget to get quotes from larger places such as Allstate, State Farm, Farm Bureau. I even got a quote from Geico whose Home Insurance was significantly more than the others but car insurance gave them all a run for their money.

Default Reasonable Homeowner's in N Central AR

I just yesterday got a new policy on my homeowners and vehicles with Travelers. I HAD been paying over $400 a year and the rate jumped $300 to over $700 with Farmers so I started shopping. State Farm was over $600. Allstate was a little better, but I checked with an insurance broker and she found that Travelers would insure the house for under $300 a year if I had at least one vehicle insured with them. I have excellent credit and no claims and that was part of the reason. They do not, however, insure rentals so I took that business to State Farm along with 2 other vehicles. It is a hassle to have 2 companies and probably a little disadvantage, but not enough to keep me from saving over $400 on just my homeowners alone so I went with it. Comparable coverage and fantastic rate. Should travelers increase, I will again shop. It seems insurance companies price themselves out of a person's business even without any claims (I had one claim on one rental in MANY years coverage) and I do not understand that so I just keep shopping when they outprice themselves. Farmers lost over $3000 a year in insurance premiums by raising my homeowners so high. Seems a little "stupid" to me when I have had only one claim in so many years. I know all the floods and tornados, etc. has been a financial burden on them, but if they raise all our rates, we will just shop for better rates and they lose the GOOD customers. NOT smart on their part!

If you're using a local bank for your home purchase, ask them for a recommendation. Most of the banks here have an in-house insurance person who works with many different insurers and can compare rates. Very helpful.
