Default Personal Prop. tax and all the rest....

We are looking into moving to the Cabot area later this year. We now live in Texas and are of retirement age. What all in taxes can I expect to deal with? Is there a web site that explains the Personal Prop. tax, State Income Tas (what is taxed, retirement monies?) I realize the property tax is low, but do the rest of them make you wish you just had a property tax to deal with? Is there a food tax as well?

I will appreciate any information,

Thanks,

Jim

There's an interesting story. I moved from Little Rock to Dallas and back again a few years later. My home and cars were the same price. My net amount of taxes paid never changed with the move. My property taxes quadrupled in Texas vs Arkansas while in Arkansas I paid much higher income tax. Sales tax was equal. I totalled it up and literally was within a hundred dollars in total tax burden after each move.

Auto and home insurance are considerably cheaper in Arkansas, FWIW.

Thanks for the threads and information, especially your Ar. to Texas to Ar. move. I had wondered if when you add up all the taxes paid on both sides Ar. vs Texas if they were about the same....
