The Human Society of the Delta (which was only recently formed after the original shelter was shut down earlier this year) did file charges today.

I, too, have heard of this bizarre and tragic story way up here in Pennsylvania, so the stupidity of this Arkansas mayor is indeed far-reaching! Those poor animals!

Well good! Please keep us informed on this incident. Hope the dogs in question get a second chance at having homes that love, provide and care for them.

Shame on the people who didn't fix their pets and who let them roam.
Also shame on the people of that county for not ponying up enough tax money to take proper care of the strays.

Give the poor nut-case mayor a break it was the people who elected him. I'm glad I live in Montana, our town doesn't have a dog problem like that.

If people will vote for Obama they will vote for anything. Maybe they didn't know the Mayor was deranged at the time of voting.

They could have figured out he'd had several actions taken against him by the bar association simply by looking at the ABA site. Maybe not totally deranged but definitely not in charge of his professional life...

Default No peta

I am totaly against peta, they are a terrorist org. home grown, I love animals as much as anyone and do not want to see people abuse them, but peta's aim is to end animal usage all togeather. Although I do not think this will happen I will not support this type of thing. We use Pigs in every thing form the makeup you put on to the film in your cameras and many things in between. Pig and cow skin is the single best thing to make shoes out of. The dogs were not taken care of and if it bothers you so bad why dont you get involved in the abandoned dogs in your own areas I am sure there are many. I think it is pull the rafter out of your eye thing here.

I'm not sure what your point is, asdflkj, if there is one. This isn't a discussion about PETA, it's a discussion about taking care of the abandoned dogs in our own areas by taking action against a government official who blatantly ignored the law. I'd hate to see this thread derailed by pro or anti PETA lovers, which has nothing to do with the problem at hand.

Boy you can say that again. No one could love animals more than hubby and I do, but Pita is a group of sickos in my opinion.

Hey........!!

I belong to PETA.....

"People for the Eating of Tasty Animals".

That's it, right?

They tell me around here it's OK to hug a tree as long as you're putting up a deer stand.

Neighbor told me, "I believe there's a place on earth for all these critters.....right next to my mashed potatos".
