![]() I didn't either, but after spending a couple of weeks talking to folks and excersizing the googlefinger, it is a fact, and it's widespread. I guess the number one thing it's sold for in health food stores is joint inflammation. There's other benefits it's supposed to have. There's a ton of info out there on it under "msm", but like every supplement, there are those who detract, I dunno. I read the research papers on it with mice and people, so it has been tested a bunch of times. I don't have a problem, as such with ticks here. I traded ticks for bird poo all over the decks, which the pressure washer deals with effectively. I have gotten chiggers when feeding the neighbors dogs, as they are in a kennel with high weeds all around. I'm just interested in a pre-emptive strike on the vermin. Nuthin' wrong with one more tool in the box. |

i've been worried about the local job market as well. i know the cost of living is lower but so are the wages. my husband was told if he was to get a job in the same field in fayetteville (automated gate tech at a fence co.) he'd get about $15+ an hr. he makes much, much more than that here. we pay $1200 mo rent here for a nice house and figured we'd pay about $800-1000 there, right? doesn't seem to even out to me but numbers have never been my strong suit.
![]() his source was a former local but i can't seem to find any info on wages in the construction field except for gen. labor. i'm trying to talk him into going back to fence subcontracting. anyone know where i can get wage info??? |

Thanks to everyone for the good info. I was going to ask about bugs next so I was thrilled to see that it came up on this thread!
Jobs and bugs--the two things we are concerned about. I am glad it was brought up that there is a definite wage difference between So. Cal and AR. My husband and I both work for the government (County) in mid-level positions. We would like to continue to work for a City or County when we move. Unfortunatley, it does seem the same types of jobs pay MUCH less there in NWA. Just like was stated---it seems that it may just be a wash due to less wages. I am wondering if we would really be making a difference in our quality of living. Again, thanks everyone for the info! ~Sarah |

i am not aware of how much the salaries are but from a life style perspective, i have lived in Southern Cali and i know how easy and wonderful life is in NWA as compared to Cali. No traffic jams, easy access to almost everything..
I think there is some trade offs, each person will have various factors. I would advise you to attach some value to all potential benefits you get in Cali, all negatives too and then rack it up against similar in NWA. Just salary/rent comparison won't help hope this helped. |
