Any Arkansas State Universtity Students?
I'm considering going there but I would have to pay out of state tuition... I don't really know much about it so any advice of information would help.

I have a few friends that attend the school. What do you want to know?

I'm guessing you are talking about the main branch at Jonesboro.
My friends complain about it a lot, but I think they suffer from the whole grass is always greener thing. Most of them were born in Jonesboro so ASU is nothing new and wonderful to them. They have a fairly new, and rather large, student union building on campus although I have no idea what is all inside. Have you looked at ASU's website much? I know how much university websites can feel like propaganda but it is worth checking out. From everything I've heard it actually is a pretty good school depending on your major.
Jonesboro is a dry county, but it is quickly becoming a very wet one. I think there are over 24 establishments that can sell liquor as "private clubs." We have an Electric Cowboy if you like the clubbing thing. There are a couple of nice golf courses, a park with a small lake, a big new mall, two movie theaters, and lots of restaurant options. Memphis is an hour away if you want to go to a larger city, and Little Rock is about two hours away. Paragould is about 20 minutes to the north and has a water park. Hardy is an hour or so to the northwest and is a pretty big attraction for kids on spring break. It is situated along the Spring River and is good for fishing and floating. Jonesboro is kind of dull being a city of churches, but it is slowly gaining entertainment.

Thanks for all the info J Arp I know how your friends feel about going to a college in a town you were born in. I live in a college town and the college seems really great but considering I already hang out downtown (practically on campus) every weekend I would be so bored! I want something new.

I think it depends on where you are coming from. If you are coming from a larger city where there is a lot of culture and night life, you will be bored and disappointed in Jtown. ASU is more a commuter campus than most state schools. People live elsewhere and drive to class (instead of having a huge student population living around it). It is NOT a "college town" like Knoxville, Columbia, Ann Arbor, Oxford, Tuscaloosa, etc.
It is all a matter of personal opinion - you could not pay me enough to move back to Jonesboro. One day there bores me to tears. There is not enough to do, not enough variety, not enough culture, and way too many pick-up trucks
It is a nice, quiet town though if you have a family and are ready to settle down. Or, if you grew up and live in a smaller town, Jtown might be a step up for you.

Im in Jonesboro now and went to ASU, it was a step up for me, since I came from a small town and commuted to class. On-campus life is alot different than commuting. I would have to agree, if you are from a bigger town, or city, there really isnt much to do on a Sunday afternoon.

Me and my friends have brought back the "Sunday Drive" by taking a little road trip to Mr. Ts most Sundays.
