You won't have any problems with bagels in the Bentonvile area, I'll let someone more familiar with the locale advise, but their jewish community is not that small, and there's a demand.
For the best, catch the jewish food fest at the riverwalk in Little Rock next year. It's over this year, but shall return.
Pizza.....man, ya hit my hot button there.
I love pizza. I mean, I really love it. I do, though, hang my head in shame and standing among the crowd, will say, "I am RogMar...and I'm a pizza snob" (Helloooo...RogMar...WELCOME!). Now gimme my key chain trinket.
Yeah, it's that bad.
I have eaten pizza almost all over the world.
When I was in Sicily, I had a hired driver, and he took me to the mecca of pizza on a remote mountain in a large white alabastor building.
They grew their own veggies, and made their own cheese. It was in the garden at noon, and on your pizza at 5:00 P.M.
I worked in Chicagoland for 20 years, and made long drives to different suburbs to find mythical pizzarias.
Places where you have to call in, because it takes a couple of hours to prepare the dough, as they roll out paper-thin sheets, season it, roll out another paper-thin sheet, season it and stack it, and so on, until they are prepared to go on to ingredients.
Excellent does not do justice to their creations.
Then there's Pizzaria Uno, Gino's East & West, etcetera....
All blasphemy to use the word, "pizza" to describe their product as far as I'm concerned.
I've had the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Around here, there's a franchise called, "Pizza Inn". There are a number of free standing ones, and you'll see them in the fillin' stations sometimes.
Overall, with a couple of exceptions, the absolute worse pizza I've ever put in my mouth.
BUT!!!!
I have friends that say, "That's really good eatin'".
Point is, what passes for pizza for one person, doesn't for another.
I imagine that, being from New York, your wife likes Neopolitan style, as I do.
So, you know what......lets ask some NWA'ers about their pizza experiences, their favorite places, and please......let's exclude the usual chains like Pizza Hut, etc.
Where are the places that produce a really great, thin crust, gotta-be-crispy, nicely seasoned pie?
Anybody know of a brick oven place?
On a 1-10, I'm finding that getting above a 5 is tough.
Unless, of course, I make it here at Casa del RogMar.
