Conway Vs. Searcy
Hello all! My family and I moved here to Ark. early this summer and have been staying with my parents until we decided where to move. In your opinion, is Searcy better than Conway, or vice versa??? We're deciding between the two and your input would be great!!! Thanks!!!

You working in Little Rock? Think about commute. Both will be a doozy and very expensive with $4 gas, but Conway is still quite a bit closer than Searcy would be. Conway also offers a lot more in terms of shopping and entertainment, so you wouldn't have to go to Little Rock as often. While I personally am not a big fan of either of those places, I would have to say Conway hands down.

Yep, if you're working in or around LR you'll be much better off in Conway. I think you'd be wiser in the long run to look closer in. If you feel you need a more ruralish setting perhaps Scott would be a place to check out. If not then Sherwood or NLR or any of the other burb towns.

Yeah, don't overlook places like NLR, Sherwood, Maumelle, or even West Little Rock. There are some great, safe, suburban-oriented areas in the Little Rock metro with reasonable commutes.

Having lived and worked in both cities, I would say that Conway has always been more progressive. Maybe because Conway is on a major interstate and close to LR, but industry has always been higher there than Searcy.
To me, Searcy carries itself as part of the northern Arkansas instead of Central Arkansas. Another factor is Hendrix/UCA/CBC as opposed to Harding ... where you have a broader College base in the community. But I have to note that I'm a Hendrix Grad, so I'm biased in the area. But again, I worked in both cities post degree.
But I will have to say that there is nothing wrong with Searcy, as it's a great town. You just have more options in Conway ... IMHO.
